Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't take it off I absolutely love this jacket. It fits pretty well, although the outer layer may be just a bit too large (I am quite small, though, and I understand it's a loose fit so you can use it over a more bulky layer in colder weather). I selected it in the online store, and I thought the base layer would be a little bit thicker and warmer, but it's perfect for not-too-cold days. I use the outer layer a lot as a rain coat when biking in the city, and I just used both layers while hiking in changing climate (sunny, then raining, then cold). Awesome equipment! Would buy it again and again (my wife says its the only thing I use now).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A bit snug, lacks inner pockets, strange fleece I was so excited for this jacket. Love the colors and the look. First impression was it felt a bit restrictive, unlike one of the down-filled jackets I have that is not waterproof. Another feature I really appreciate with my down-filled jacket are the inner pockets, which I use to keep my phone and wallet sometimes when downtown in touristy areas known for pic-pockets. Sleeves pretty long, but can be tightened with velcro straps. North Face has a tendency to fit pretty snug. I like a little more room. I will keep the jacket, but wish they would try to improve size standardization. I wear this size across many brands without any awkward sensation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looking for the perfect jacket? You found it! Just the jacket I was looking for!! I needed a jacket which was water resistant, wind resistant, warm and durable. The Polar is gives the exact amount of warmth I wanted for cold nights in the city as well as for cold weathers when I use it as a complete jacket on my hiking trips. Wind and water can´t get through even if I had a fan and a waterhose pointing at me at full throttle! Simply perfect for my needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lighter than I thought, and the sleeve snaps are dangerous! I ordered another jacket and it was too big, returned a big medium and got a small which was perfect, and so I just ordered a small and it fits great. I think the liner jacket is a little thinner than i expected, but the biggest thing is sometimes if you hand gets bunched in the end of the sleeve where the liner jacket snaps in to the outer one, it can unsnap and whip you... stung a little, so now i certainly take more time with the sleeves. I do like this, it is just a little lighter than i expected, but very very warm

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good rain protection, defective zipper As someone who "runs hot," I love the removable fleece under layer. The outer layer does a great job of keeping me dry during those late night, stormy walks with my dog. HOWEVER, my zipper gets stuck on the jacket lining every single time I zip up, resulting in a battle to remove the jacket. Half the time, I slip the jacket over my head like a sweatshirt. Other times, I try to fight through the obstruction. Finally, the zipper fought back and tore a hole through the lining. And by finally, I mean roughly the tenth wear. The zipper design is clearly defective, and I'm not the only one to experience this. Also, the return/warranty policies aren't conducive to fixing this issue due to the time involved. Should I buy a new rain jacket to cover the up to 8 weeks I'll be without this one? The bottom line is: if you're fortunate enough to get a jacket that zips properly, this is a great product. If, like me and others, your zipper is defective, I'd recommend looking elsewhere due to the difficulty in trying to fix the issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best jacket I've owned This jacket is Awesome! My parents bought it for me as a birthday present. I went to Chicago in January, it was only in the 20's and 30's but it was windy and this jacket blocked out all the wind! I love that I can either wear 1 or the other or both. The inner jacket is thinner than I thought it would be, but for me it was a good thing, it is still warm but does allow air through when worn alone. I also love that if you need to stick it in a backpack its not too bulky, it fit great in my medium size backpack. The fit was great, at times I did feel like it was a bit big, but If i would have gotten a medium it would have definitive been too small. Bottom line I LOVE IT!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I like the fleece I like the fleece but not so much the shell. I got the XXL and it fits great. I find the shel buldges in the belling making your belly look plus sized lol. I'm 6'6 and wear 50-52 chest, 36/36 1/2 sleeve length and it fits good. Just a hint: I just got the Eddie Bauer All-Mountain Shell Jacket in XL Tall and it zippers with the fleece to this jacket perfectly. The Eddie and this NF fleece both have button snaps at the wrists but you can hook them and theres no buldge at your wrist. I'm pumped! :) .....Also the Eddie looks more tailored.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing customer service. Personally, I've always loved The North Face. In school I never owned a jacket, but since my girlfriend got my into the jackets I bought one online. However after reading the reviews I decided to go with a XL. Got it the next day and it was too big. So went to the nearest store and exchanged the jacket for another in a Large. Since then everywhere I go mine is on. It fits perfectly, I don't get too hot and of course never get too cold. Due to the zipper going all the way up, it also shields your face from the weather. The only complaint I have is because it's longer (my fault) it restricts body movement to crouch, squat or in general pick things up. Either way, I love mine and plan to buy more.
