Great for travel - New York cold or California nights

I live in California, but I bought this jacket for a trip to New York - and it handled both climates really well. In California, it might be a bit overkill during the day, but at night when temps drop, it's actually perfect. Super comfortable, lightweight, and totally weatherproof. In New York, it was exactly what I needed. The GORE-TEX keeps you dry and blocks wind like a champ. It breathes well so I never felt sweaty walking around the city. The fit is roomy enough for layering, and I liked that it didn't feel bulky or stiff. Feels durable and looks sharp. I'd definitely bring it on future trips or keep it around for cooler evenings here at home.

Size is a concern

Bought this jacket to replace an old NF jacket I had for about 20 years(!). I'm sure this new jacket will be great once I get out in the winter months and start using it, but only giving 3.5-4 stars right now because I'm questioning the sizing. I typically wear a Large (5'10, 195 lbs), but I tried both Large and Medium. I was drowning in the Large - it was 4-6" too long and I would have had to roll the sleeves over to fit. The Medium fits, but is about 1" too short, and the sleeve length feels too long. Is there a "Medium-and-a-half"? Bottom line, I wish it was more comfortable, but once I'm on the slopes, I'm sure it will be great...and I hope to keep it as long as I did my last NF jacket.

Yes

Jacket, is beautiful, lost for words. Would I recommend yes. Simple but amazing. Worth every penny in my eyes, light weight but stiff if that makes sense, thank you northface for another great peace

Definitely worth it

Love how this jacket zips my Denali fleece jacket inside. I also like the blue and black color scheme. The stitching is top quality making this combination ready for whatever winter has in store.

Satisfied Loyal Customer Since 1986

This in my opinion the best jacket TNF has put out. I have a retro 1994 Mountain Light Jacket, 1990 Mountain Jacket which is the same as the one this jacket replaced due to a warrantee issue. This jacket is basically the same design with some improvements like a better reversable front zipper, button down front flap has a water gutter now, way better hood adjustments and it's lighter in weight but still has a tougher outer shell than other TNF jackets. Also still has the zip in jacket or vest ability. It's rapidly becoming my favorite jacket.

Amazing mid weight rain and wind jacket

Stunning jacket, beautifully made. I was put off by other reviews regarding the high pockets as that often result is a weird unsightly and uncomfortable bulge, but in this case the pocket goes deep so no midriff bulge and the placement makes it easier to access, the two interior zipper pockets are also excellent and rest at the lowest bottom part of the jacket. the material is heavy, the red/black color makes one very visible and the craftsmanship makes the high price tag fully worth it.

Nice statement piece.

Jacket in hand looks great. But due note that the material is not as thick as the all black or solid color GORE TEX jackets. But you would only know if you compare it side by side and you've owned one. Also GORE TEX WOULD NOT HAD PUT THERE TAGS IF IT WASNT UP TO THERE STANDARDS AS WELL. But I did get it at a great price. And I love the product and brand. It's more of a statement/ style type of jacket for me. I wouldn't had payed full price for this color jacket. But over all a solid piece.

I love it

This jacket has impressed me on every front. It's reliable, durable, and comfortable, with excellent weather protection for a variety of outdoor activities. Whether you're facing down a snowstorm or braving a rainy day, this jacket will keep you dry and comfortable. Yes, it's an investment, but for anyone who spends time outdoors and wants something that will perform at a high level, it's absolutely worth the price. I can see this jacket lasting me for many years, no matter the adventure.
