Great for the tent
We needed a small, unobtrusive, clip on light for the tent after the fire's died down and this does the trick perfectly. Easy use, easy battery replacement, tiny so takes up no room in our supply bin and provides the right amount of ambient light in a two room tent. If I had to list cons-that-aren't-really-cons-as-I-just-didn't-anticipate-them, I would say that the light is the typical harsh-LED white as opposed to a more ambient yellow and it would be tough for my 6 year old to master the on-off switch (especially trying to turn it on in the dark). Otherwise, this is a minimalist's dream light for your tent.
so handy and bright
I was standing in the customer service line and saw this light on a rack for $7. I use a candle lantern in my tent but thought this would be handy in the dark. I am notorious for forgetting flashlights. I clipped this to my backpack so it would always be available to look into the dark chasm of my top load internal frame pack or for whatever. it was great! Bright enough to read by when in my tent at night. it is only about 2 inches big. clip it to your pack, your day pack, toss one in your glove box of your car just in case. Comes with battery installed and since it's LED it will last a long time. I will likely buy another. though i don't really need another. well i buy it as a gift. great backpackers gift!
Small and bright
Wow this thing is bright. Worked perfect for our little guy. The light projects out so I'm sure it even helped our pup see better. We spotted him anywhere we went in the campsite.
Good idea, bad manufacturing quality
I ordered this online. I don’t know how many “try out” cycles before you buy had the batteries worn down, but within a month, the device stopped working. I already had the correct size replacement batteries, but those barely worked. I noticed that the battery holder gap was a bit too large and that this might be preventing the electrical path from being fully connected. I tried a strip of aluminum foil to help bridge this gap. While this worked, it is only temporary: -with one click, the device lights up for less than a second, and then turns off; -with a click+hold, the device flashes until hold is released. It seems therefore that there are some short circuits on the PCB board. Still looking for a LED light to connect to my dog’s collar for our nightly sojourns.
Great light for a hammock camping
When buying lights, understanding brightness is key. I was hoping for a light that could light up my REI Grand Hut 6 tent. Not going to happen with this little guy. It's a cool little light with great reviews, but it's best suited for lighting up my hammock at closer range to what I need a light for (like a book). Hanging this at the top of a tent, especially a medium-to-large-sized tent, would not be enough light. I like the carabiner clip on it. Turning it on is not a joyful situation...as you press in the center of the light to get it to click on (a second quick click causes a strobe light, which would be useful for bikers at night). None of my kids can turn it on without pressing it down hard with their palms. So, eat your Wheaties before attempting to turn it on.
Perfect tent ambiance!
Bought two of these on a whim to function as lightweight tent lighting. Been camping twice with them and they work great! Plenty of light to see and the rotating function of the little dome is nice. These are very lightweight and about the diameter of a half dollar. They also have a blinking function as well. Only concern is that the lights brightness is not adjustable. Not a big deal to me, but ymmv. I love mine!
A must have.
Absolutely love this little light in my ultralight backpacking tents. It’s a perfect balance of function to size ratio for many reasons. It easily clips on to tent loops, it’s small and light weight and the disc style replacement batteries are ideal when weight matters most. It’s just bright enough to illuminate the inside of a 2/3 person tent in the dark of night just enough to see what you’re doing or to find what you’re looking for without overwhelming your eyes before they can adjust. It also won’t impact others nearby who might not appreciate the sudden light pollution. Batteries far outlasted any expectations I had and lasted over a month while using it about 15 to 30 minutes a night. Another huge benefit of having this light is it makes your tent stand out and much easier to spot in a sea of other tents in large gatherings. Other benefits of this light is to allow people to see your position like if you’re hiking at night or riding a bike on the side of road. Please note this only illuminates a small area and doesn’t project light like a flashlight does. It swivels to direct light where you need it but not enough to where you can comfortably navigate by it especially when there is moon light. There is also a larger rechargeable model that is brighter and has color changing options if you want something more powerful. One may not meet your needs so consider multiples in bigger spaces.
So handy to have all over the place
I bought a couple of these for a camping trip. I used one in our privacy shelter aka camping toilet. I used the other one as a zipper pull on our tent door...it worked as a good night light so not to disturb the fam going in and out of the tent at night when they were sleeping. When I got home I put one in a closet that has no lighting, works great and love how it just clips on to whatever. Good product to have around!
Great for my dog!
The lights specifically marketed for dog collars all had relatively low reviews, so I bought this instead and it does a great job at making him more noticeable to cars when we walk at night.
Perfect for hammock ridgelines
Bought one to try in my Hennessy Hammock and it works great as an in hammock light hanging from the ridge line. It's very bright so reading at night is easy and the swivel head allows you to aim the light anywhere you need.
