Solid Hydration Pack!
I bought this to replace my Geigerig 3L pack. The Osprey is not dishwasher safe and requires a little more effort to clean than the Geigerig... but I like it so far. The 2.5L is lighter and held up very well on a 4 day backpack trip in Big Bend. I had to carry 3 days of water, and this guy was great. I don't use it every week so the cleaning in dishwasher doesn't mean as much to me. Also, I don't like the Geigerig because it is too much for a simple pack, and got horrible staining from the dishwasher. Osprey is my suggestion for anyone looking. The magnet for the sternum strap is a nice bonus on the trail.
No More Leaks!
I just picked this up as a replacement for my older bladder of the same make and size. The old one had the screw on cap and the fabric loop would sometimes get caught in the thread and cause it to leak. This one doesn't have that problem since it fills from the top. The new opening also makes it easy to fill it up with ice. I can scoop up ice and pour it right in. My only two gripes are that it's not as rigid as the old one so it tends to sag in my day pack. The mouthpiece is also fixed and doesn't rotate like the old one did. I've since gotten used to that part. The nice part about the mouthpiece is that you can easily twist it closed so that it doesn't leak.
Does not clean well regardless of what you do

Decent Reservoir
Overall impressions: Average Got this past March and have used it a little bit but from my impressions this is an average Hydration Reservoir. The pros of this Reservoir is that it fits well on my Osprey Talon 33. In addition the valve they provide comes with a magnetic so if you like me and don't want your reservoir dangling, the included magnetic thing works well. Another pro is how their isn't any leaks. Now for the cons. There are very limited accessories included with this reservoir. In fact some of the accessories have not work well and are a pain to install. So if you are looking for other accessories outside of what Osprey makes then you going to be out of luck. In addition another con is how the accessories for it are expensive and cheaply made.
Light, easy to fill and manipulate.
I have used a few different bladders in addition to this one - Camelback, Platypus, etc. and am very happy with the Osprey. The others also have good features but I like the light feel. It is very easy to handle on trail when refilling and unlike that the slide lock is easy to remove and stays attached. The hose clip mid way also adds to the ease of getting the bladder out and in without having to rethread. Some may prefer a sturdier feel. I use this for mid to long day hikes and used for a Mt. Whitney day hike with a refill and it worked great. I have not tested it any more than that - happy with results when I used it.
So far so good
I got this bladder as a replacement for another Osprey bladder that was leaking from it's top. This is the first bladder I have used that has this fold-over and clamp opening. I really like it. Much easier to fill and empty. I do worry about wear and longevity as it seems frequent use might lead to damage, but that's pure speculation. I also like the removable nozzle section. Much easier to take in and out of my backpack, not having to push the nozzle through the narrow opening from inside the bag. This bladder is also a half liter larger than the one I replaced. So far, so good!
Works great!
I love the fact this bladder carries water at any level very well. The fact that this bag sorta vacuums as you use it helps keep the water from sloshing back-and-forth. I love the quick connect option as well. I haven’t had the need to purchase a bladder in over 10 years. Maybe they all work like this now. Either way, I’m impressed. Only thing I have never liked about bladder packs is the fact you need to kinda bite down on the mouth piece to dispense water. Makes it tough to drink while hiking or trying to catch your great. I love the way this bladder seals up. Super easy to pour water from anything or just put a pump filter hose directly into it. Seals well and did not notice a single leak.
Good, but could be improved
2 things that would make this product better: 1) Don't preinstall the quick connect. I would have preferred to locate it on the shoulder strap, instead it is preinstalled 2) Include at least one additional male adapter. I like to refill by connecting a small hose to my filter and the other end to the quick release. However, this product only comes with one male adapter which is already attached to the bite valve See pictures of my preferred setup
Seam burst on first day of use
The seam burst and the reservoir began leaking on the first day of use. Unfortunately this happened on the first day of a mountaineering expedition. The reservoir was not overloaded or under any conditions out of the ordinary, the seam in the bottom corner just split and began leaking. I really liked the new sliding mechanism on this reservoir, but clearly I had to give a 1-star since it started leaking 2 hours after I started using it.
I recommend
This is my first time using a water reservoir and I LOVE it. Honestly it keeps me too hydrated while hiking, I have to find a bush a lot more on the trails now. I got the 2.5 L size because I tend to hike between 4-6 hours at a time and I have never used more than a quarter of it - though I haven’t used it in the height of summer since it’s only just May now and I bought this maybe 2 more the ago. Very easy to fill up and put it in my non-Osprey brand backpack. The metallic attachment is a great idea and fits perfectly on my backpack strap. So much easier than having to stop and rifle through my backpack every time I want a sip.
