Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for commuting! I bought this bag to commute to/from work at a hospital. I bike or walk and this bag is the perfect size and design for my needs. - Comfortable to wear - straps fit well, and the mesh-y back reduces some of the sweat on my back (a difficult task in Atlanta!) - Carries a surprising load - I can fit my ipad, notebook, coffee & lunch with room to spare if I need to bring an extra item of clothing. The top pocket can carry my cell phone, badge, keys and wallet without digging into my neck - Stylish - I work in a hospital, so I didn't want to use my normal hiking day pack. This is a lot sleeker and looks more professional, while still being easy to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obsessed with this gorgeous rugged but feminine bag! Yes it is small but it fits a feminine frame perfectly! I need to travel with my tablet and wallet, keys, water bottle, toddlers large stainless insulated cup, snacks, change of clothes and a distraction toy. There is STILL ROOM! The gold is what made me buy it- it is hard to find something rugged yet femanine. This design with the smaller sleek look as well as the gold is what sells this for me! It is compact and does not take a huge amount of space- My college bound child wants one and I use it as my mom bag- grab and go- oh and the lining is super soft! A cell pocket in front- and the tablet pocket is padded. LOVE IT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Light Travel Anywhere I love this bag! I'm always on the go and wanted something that can fit all my needs plus a little more. I can fit my chromebook, two workout outfits, a book, a toiletry bag, my wallet, huge headphones, my glucometer, and other med essentials. And still so light! I also took it on a small 2 day trip and it fit everything I needed. I recommend it if you need something small to carry the basics or as your immediate bag in cities for longer traveling days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE LOVE LOVE I absolutely recommend this Electra backpack. I purchased this for hiking and it's the perfect size to fit all of my gear! I am also going to use this for flights, biking, camping, field trips, and commuting to work. If you are looking for a backpack to carry your textbooks for school, this is NOT the one for you, as it is much smaller than a normal sized backpack (I've included a comparison picture for you to see). I also had a major spinal fusion done on almost my entire spine and was looking for a bag that wouldn't "pull" on my spine during long hikes, and the way that this one is designed with its shoulder straps, it's like I'm carrying nothing at all on my back. The only thing I'm a little sad about is that the North Face logo isn't sewn on like on some of their other products (it appears to be more like a tough sticker), but other than that small detail, I can't recommend this backpack enough!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yes, it's small, it holds 12-liters, what do you expect? For those who are confused that this is "smaller than expected," it's a 12-liter backpack, what do you expect? I'm a commuter in DC, so I just needed something that kept me hands-free on the subway and held my tablet, sometimes lunch, and other small essentials. It's a great commuter back for those who don't actually pack the kitchen sink when they're off to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Urban Bag I fell in love with the design of this product. It caught my eye and is quite visually appealing. I primarily use my tablet, and the bag is the perfect size to carry it and my other daily essentials around. You'll see a few poor reviews based on size: note that the liter capacity for this bag indicates it is a light load. This bag will not carry large laptops or textbooks, but the poor reviews are due to consumers not paying attention, not the overall quality of the bag, which is stellar. I take my backpacks very seriously and adore this pack. I am currently using it for a hiking trip in Hawaii and go back and forth between having my iPad and kindle in it to stocking it with food and water for long hikes. Would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. It's the perfect day pack size or if you're a bicycle commuter. It holds my 14" laptop - but just barely, so be forewarned! Super cute, luxe features that aren't in the usual pack - the fleece lined top pocket, zip side pocket an the easy access kinda-hidden front stretchy pocket is handy. Would recommend, and the black/gold looks sick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it I had the original Electra version and loved it! I love the size and fit of this one. The interior is better and I actually liked the exterior design more in person. This is one of the smallest backpacks I've seen and I love that! It's more of a purse bag. I hope North Face keeps making them this size.

The description says this backpack has a 'hideaway sternum strap', but I don't see it in the pictures. Can someone confirm if this backpack has a sternum strap?

How well will this backpack keep the contents dry if I'm walking through Seattle rain? And will the rain bead off? If this bag doesn't keep contents dry, can I apply a water repellent spray

Asked by: Bag Lady
This pack is not waterproof. You can use a waterproofing spray to make it more water resistant (fine for light rain while you duck in and out of buildings), but if you are going to be in the rain for long periods or in a downpour the fabric will saturate. Instead, we recommend tucking a lightweight rain cover like the CamelBak Rain Cover (S/M size) in your pack to use for true protection.
