There is no better adventure sandal around
I wore these things for nearly 5 years for 3 seasons each. Desert, beach, mountain trails, rock climbing crags, forest, paddle boarding, jungle hikes and caving. If you learn how to adjust the straps properly they will be very comfortable and stylish. Over the last season the sole started to delaminate and the strap started to fray from sand abrasion over the years (I never properly cleaned the strap). For how many countless activities over nearly 5 years I put them through along with constant casual use, I’d have to say I’m very happy with how they held up. Not even hiking or approach shoes would last this long. I’m exited to order a new pair and can’t wait for the countless adventures in them.
Super comfortable, wear it every chance I get
I wear these ALL the time, makes for an excellent cycling shoe when I'm not clipped in, love the air flow and depending on outside temps never wear a covered shoe to bike any more if at all possible. I have done some hiking in them as well and no worries any more on stream crossings or getting wet, they stick to your foot in the water and don't flop around like flip flops. IMPORTANT if you are trying the toe loop version for the first time, you have to give them a solid week or two and the strap will eventually stop constricting around your big toe, once they are broken in you just can't beat the fit and control with the toe loop
Comfortability wins.
I moved onto these after tearing a hole in the sole of a pair of discontinued Chaco's, a pair which I can't remember the name of, but which had the thinnest soles that Chaco was producing at the time. I was a little wary about how much I would like these because I'm not a huge fan of Chaco's typical blocky sandal sole and footbed, but the soft layer atop the Z2 Cloud made the transition smooth as silk, and I wear these everyday in the same way I did my last pair. 4 out of 5 stars because I think $110 for a pair of sandals is too steep, and I have no problem putting money into quality gear. This is just a personal opinion directed at Chaco's in general. Still, would recommend.
All around great fit
Bought these to replace some 10 year old flip flops. Ended up being quite the delightful change. The straps definitely take some getting used to, but work well. Trimmed and melted the strap ends to keep them off the ground. Work well for hiking and wading in streams. Stay comfortable after hours of wear!
Great sandal with one exception.
These are very nicely made and have the advantage of replacing the sole. the fit for me was spot on. The problem I have is that after adjusting them the straps will tighten up on your fore foot while walking. I looked on the internet for a fix but didn't find anything that looked good. Chaco knows about this problem and has a fix but you have to send them back to chaco. I don't understand why there isn't a fix in the box when you buy them. These are expensive sandals I should not have to send them back to fix a known problem. Come on Chaco. I have fixed mine with a thin piece of rubber glued to the strap, and then I pulled it in the slot.
amazing!
I’ve had these for a few months and I love them! I climbed a multi pitch route in them! They’ve also been all over already. The toe strap can be a bit uncomfortable but you can always take it off and loosen it and it usually stay loose for a little bit. Or you could just step on it. It’s a nice option to have when doing things like hiking and stream crossing and stuff the toe strap keeps it snug. The pull strap is a little bit long and i have skinny feet so I had to tie it off. If you cut or modify it the warranty no longer applies. The sole is unbelievably comfortable! Really is a cloud. The build of these is so sturdy as most people say. Love them!
Nice sandals, but the strap?
I haven’t had these sandals for long but they fit nice, are comfortable and look nice. The only thing I don’t like is the strap is sorta long and drags on the ground. It seems that something could be added to prevent this.
best sandal for hiking and climbing,
I have tried multiple sandals. Teva and others that have advertised comfort and use. I use my sandals during the summer for running, hiking, climbing, and playing light sport. I need absolute security on my foot. I want to be certain that the sandal stays securely on my foot and never slips. The sole needs to be on my foot like glue. The toe strap and the binding makes this sandal the best. I can run, do hike, climb, play sports, and it never moves. Realizing the toe strap is never everyone's love, but it is the only way to go for absolute security. If you are looking for a sandal that stick to your foot like glue, this is it. As an aside, get 1/2 size smaller. The standard size fits like a shoe, a little overhang. I like my sandal to be an extension of my foot.
Amazing sandals but high maintenance
I love these sandals but they are have some of the highest maintenance issues of anything that I own. If using them around town, or in general daily walking, these shoes are perfect. The maintenance begins when the sandals are submerged in any kind of river, lake or creek water. If you do not take care of them, i.e. scrubbing, soaking and flossing the straps, they have a funk that forms that is only comparable to a teenagers locker room for hockey. Hang your head out of the window kind of the funk. I would say they are worth it, but make sure to keep them clean and smelling fresh. Do some research and find out what works for you if you plan on taking these bad boys out on a creek walk.
Great for casual use but not for the outdoors
I used these sandals on a canoe trip in the BWCA and I must say that I was not impressed. Having been recommended by many friends, I thought that these would be perfect for getting in and out of the water and walking on portages. In reality they have very little traction which makes portaging over boulders and through rocky and rooty terrain (aka almost every portage in the BWCA) not only challenging, but sometimes scary. I do admit that they are very comfortable and nice to wear walking around on the sidewalk or on flat trails, but I would look elsewhere if you are wanting to do actual hiking in the wilderness.
