Toxic - Do Not Buy!

I rarely write reviews, but please avoid terrible product from GSI. I purchased 6 of these cubes for a spring break road trip because they were the right dimension to fit under a platform in my overland rig. The sides do bulge a bit when full so the listed dimensions are not perfect but close enough if you don't fill them all the way. I rinsed each thoroughly, multiple times prior to filling them up for the trip. The spigot works well and they are easy to deal with compared to a much heavier 5 or 7 gallon container. There was a residual taste from manufacturing. We didn't think too much of it at first until the belly ache started in my son. We had water in other containers that were fine and we traced our issue back to the water from these GSI vessels. Two of 4 people in our group had terrible stomach cramps and my son developed a red rash on his face. The water was clean from home and no...it wasn't sunburn. Thank goodness we had extra water in our trusty Reliance 7 gallon cubes. This was a huge disappointment and and it could have meant disaster on our weeklong Utah desert trip if we hadn't brought extra water.

Cross country motorcycle trip

This worked exactly as expected on a cross country motorcycle trip from Alabama to California. It lasted the entire trip even though I spent over 300 miles off road in very rough terrain. I used it to store water for emergencies or if I got stranded in the back country. Would buy again and recommend to others.

3 years in and still functioning

We originally purchased this to extend our ability to boondock in our RV during a year long road trip around the country. Used it countless times to fill up at drinking fountains or other access points and then top off our RV water tanks. The light weight, easy to manage size combined with ability to collapse down made this ideal for our purposes. I was originally weary of any plastic water tank after researching online, pretty much every product had it's share of bad reviews, so with the low price, subsequently I had low expectations of this. But here we are now, 3 years later, and it's still holding up well without a single leak. If all units match the quality and lifespan we've had with ours, I'd certainly recommend it.

Worked Great...mysterious demise

This is a great product. It folds pretty flat and is easy to clean. The valve works well and it's nice to have fresh water available at camp. However, I'm not sure if mine met it's demise from a fall or at the hands of a raccoon, or both. We returned to camp to find it on the ground (it wasn't full when we left and not the most sturdy when partially empty) so it's possible it just fell. But it got a small hole in one of the corners which could have also could have been from a pesky raccoon. No way of knowing...but it was great while it lasted!

Functional... when it doesn't leak

This is a great size to have when needing to fill up a pot to cook dinner, wash dishes, and still have enough left to fill your water bottles. It flattens down well enough to put in my backpack and not too large that I could put the cube on the bottom of a canoe while filtering lake water into it without issue. However, it was disappointing to discover upon the first use that one corner had a leak. The spout can be moved in different directions, so I was able to turn the cube on its side with the leak side up for the duration of the trip, but ultimately returned it. I'll purchase this again, but plan to first test it out to make sure it doesn't have a leak. If it weren't for the leak this would have been a 5-star item.

Must have tasted good?

We were very happy with this cube, easy to collapse, expand, fill and use. We took it out for it’s first primitive camping trip with us and were super happy overall. The only downfall was that a chipmunk bit a little hole in one of the corners and we lost our freshly filled and treated stash of water. Fortunately, that happened on our last night. We repaired it by fusing the corner with a lighter but haven’t refilled it to test the integrity of the fix. We were surprised that it punctured so easily so not sure yet what we will purchase to replace it. Outside of that, it worked great! :)

Great addition to the camp box!

I've found this year that I have difficulty hauling the 5 gallon water jug from the truck trunk to walk in campsites. Thus, I bought the collapsible jug that is easier to haul, and supplemented with a couple of extra half gallon juice jugs (reduce, reuse...). The collapsible worked perfectly; even the 6 year olds were independent with the spigot. At the end of the trip when repacking the truck, it was great to be able to collapse the jug, since nothing ever goes back in the vehicle the way it came out. I think camping gear is a sister species to snaje-in-a-can.

Very Useful

It holds plenty of water so that you don't have to keep making trips to a river or a water source to keep filling a jug or water bottle up for your camping needs. I was looking for something that could provide me with water at a campsite for the entire night and morning and that's exactly what I got. It also is able to fold down into a little square so that it doesn't take up much space in your pack. Great product!

Holds water just like it should.

REI asked me to review this water cube. It's pretty light when it's empty, and heavier with 2.5 gal of water. It holds water just like I hoped it would. There's a spigot to turn the water on. What a fun item.

Did the job!

I bought this for a 30 mile backpacking trip in Big Bend National Park. We needed to carry all of our water. We cached this water cube for our day 2 water pick up and it worked perfect! Folded up nice once we filled up our water bladders. Packed it out! (smaller cube on left in photo)
