Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great commuter shoe too I got these (in black) along with Shimano PD-T420 pedals for my 10 mile daily commute on my Novara Big Buzz. This is my first time going clipless and I wanted a shoe that I could also wear at work or when meeting with people after. I've put about 600 miles on these and have had to wear them a few times to casual events after work. I am very happy with them. They fit well, are not too bulky or heavy, breath well, and can pass for a normal sneaker if you need them to. I usually change as soon as I get to work, but can walk around comfortably in these for any "emergency" meetings that pop up between when I leave my house and get to the office. I would absolutely buy these again and have recommended them to friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice mountain bike shoes, size 46 for US 10.5 I bought these for my husband and he is very happy with them. I bought the 46, even though his normal shoe size is 10.5 & the size chart shows they would be too big (size chart shows 10.5 should be 45). The 46's are perfect fit with plenty of room in the toes but not too loose. He wears a 10.5 running shoe (Altra Lone Peak 2.5), and only sz 11 shoes are Vans. I read many reviews on amazon that said these run small, which I agree with. I cannot attest to durability as they have only been used once so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent cycling shoes also good for walking These replace a set of ratchet/velcro Pearl Izumi X-Alp Enduros I bought 6 years ago for roughly the same price. Those were far from worn out but were a little tricky to use after my dog chewed on one of the ratchet straps. I was pleased to find that these have an elastic loop (which should have been mentioned in the description) to secure the laces so they do not get chewed up by the chainrings. This is exactly the reason I had bought ratchet/velcro shoes previously. The loops work perfectly. The soles are deep enough to accommodate the thicker multidirectional Shimano SH-56 SPD cleats so that the cleats do not hit the ground as you walk in the shoes. So only the rubber treads hit the surface, thereby reducing the risk of sliding if you have to wear the shoes on smooth floors. These shoes are about 90g lighter than the X-Alp Enduros (434g vs 522g). The soles are a bit thinner and the uppers feel a bit lighter. This could be a plus or a minus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pearl Izumi Men's X-Alp Seek VII Shoe I got back in to cycling about a year ago after a 20-year hiatus, and it seems that the cages and the funky shoes you can't walk in from my past are obsolete. Go figure. Since my return to cycling, I have 1000+ miles both on and off-road without dedicated bike shoes/pedals, and thought it was time to get with the times. I mainly ride a touring bike or a mountain bike, so I wanted something that would work for both. I ended up buying these in the gray color, size 46. I normally wear an 11 in street shoes and these fit well. They have a good-sized toe box and felt good right off the bat. They are big enough to enable putting thicker socks on for warmth in the cold, yet they cinch down tight enough for micro socks for riding in the heat. Since these are my first clipless SPD shoes, I cannot compare or contrast them with other shoes, I can only give my impression of these shoes. That said, I now have three weeks and 250 miles with these paired with Shimano M324 SPD dual-platform pedals, which were on my touring bike when I bought it a year ago. On the first couple of rides, my feet ached on-and-off a wee bit during the rides as they became adjusted to the fixed position and non-flexing sole, however, it was nothing to get excited over and was to be expected. After that I have had no problems - no numbness or pain, only comfort. I have found my riding has become slightly faster and certainly more efficient, and I really like them in the mountains. I rode 50 miles with a couple good climbs yesterday and never once thought about my shoes or feet. That pretty much says it all. I like the elastic loop that holds the shoe laces to keep them from catching in the chainrings; it is a small, but very useful detail. I have not done any extensive walking in them, so I can't attest to long-term off-bike comfort, but they certainly will get you into the local store and back on the bike without clacking around or slipping on the tiles. Bottom line: I like these a lot. They are light, cool, and comfortable. They work for what they are intended and they clip in and out of my SPD pedals quickly. I have not fallen over (yet) and they have never come unclipped when I did not want.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Comfortable both on and off the bike Bought the Black/Shadow Grey shoes to go with my crankbrother mallet pedals. These shoes are extremely comfortable and very solid. On the bike they clip in and are secure. Off the bike i can walk confortably without even noticing I have cleats on. The recessed cavity makes it so the cleats do not touch the ground when walking so no click click click and they don't look like bike shoes so are very versatile. Great shoes, highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent pair to own I am new at cycling but I was told to get Pearl Izumi and I did and I am glad I choose these pair, they feel great and I do not have discomfort at all. I'm happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On the road or at the gym I love these for spin class because I can walk through the gym and onto the bike. Usable for road biking, but a bit heavy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for hiking but maybe not biking This is a very comfortable shoe, so comfortable I could probably run a 10K in it. Easy to clip into and the slot for the cleat is just deep enough. Works well on a perfectly smooth floor, but if you walk on asphalt you can hear the cleat grinding against the ground. But part of the reason it is so comfortable is that it is very flexible. It feels like a normal running shoe on and off the bike. That might work for some, but I was looking for a much stiffer shoe.
