Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy and secure set up is the key. Bought it after using one of the lower end models. It is great. It sets up in very little time and is secure for the most part for the bike. Things I do not like: 1. The cord for locking your bike is so short you can only lock one bike. 2. There are limitations it seems with my Canondale and how it can set up on the rack. The rubber ties used to cinch down the bike cannot get around the thicker tubes of the frame correctly and they have trouble if you have included a bottle holder that is problematic also. So the end result is the bike tends to fly a good bit as you approach highway speeds and this can be a little nerve raking when driving. But much better than some cheaper models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mighty Tough! I read the other reviews and the only thing I can disagree with is the fact that there's only one lock for one bike which is the outside bike. If you're that concerned, use your own cable or U-lock. There's no way that a person could lift up the other bike and drag it across the one that is locked--- it's impossible. Mounting the rack on is definitely a two person job because it is heavy and I was unable to lift it and hold it in a position while clamping out over the top of my SUV. The "fit" number on the chart was incorrect for my car however it's easy to adjust the fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I initially purchased the Gateway but didn't care much for the straps and the need to retighten periodically, I returned the gateway and purchased the Raceway Pro 3 and I must say this is exactly what I was looking for in a bike rack...a quality build, with security and the right "Look";-0. The only portion of this rack that remotely touched my vehicle is the rubber feet.....of course you get exactly what you pay for, and I don't mind spending the extra coin to get a quality product. You can absolutely leave this rack on your vehicle, but don't fret....install and removal is extremely easy too, you can even fold it up and place in the trunk if you desire. If you are on the fence about the Raceway...pull the trigger, you will not regret it. Also note: If you drive a nice vehicle and would like to keep it that way....get the Raceway, it will not damage your car and of course it looks great installed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good Design, Bad Execution I had the earlier version of the three bike rack. It was fine but then after a few years the internal mechanism that grips the cable stopped holding. The current design is terrible. The arms that hold the seat tube popped off within a few weeks. In fact the first one popped off without any bike on it. It is a terrible design. I loved the earlier model and highly recommended it to my bike club (640 members) and others. It should not have have broken after three years but that was sort of okay.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A little less than pleased After finding out I couldn't place two bikes together on the raceway Pro 2, I returned it and picked this up. Seems like it should be quality work, but the internal cam busted on one of the cables and the rack sits cockeyed on the rig. Seems like this rack should be rock solid but either poor workmanship or cheap parts reduces it to going back to REI. Another Thule Failure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bike Rack Heaven This is my first bike rack purchase so I wanted to ensure I would get a product to securely hold my bike while also protecting my vehicle from damage. This Thule bike rack exceeded my expectations. I was able to transport my daughter's bike on the highway for 35 miles while driving 80 mph and the bike did not move at all during the commute. I was absolutely floored! The assembly was super easy and the product was very easy for me to mount on my car without any assistance. Yes, this is a pricey item but given that my car has no scratches after using it twice so far (just purchased on 6/24/16) and the fact that I feel very secure about my bike not falling off of the rack (I've heard those horror stories) I definitely would purchase this product again and will HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to anyone looking to purchase a bike rack. Well worth the splurge!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unhappy with Thule Design I bought this rack for my car - fits fine on the trunk and secure. However mounting the bike is the problem. The anti-swing arms are weak and break - design is not good at keeping a bike still. Also - mount arms are too narrow to secure bike - especially if you are using a mount adapter for a full suspension bike. Might work ok if mounting to the frame. The lock for the bike is useless as only works on outside bike and if carrying just one bike on the inside you can't lock unless on the far outside location - which is less stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy! Picked this up on a sale. Easily worth full price though. Easy, simple, secure, strong. Couldn't be better.

The Raceway Pro 3 Bike Trunk Rack is compatible with a 2000 to 2004 and a 2010 to 2016 Subaru Outback. The rack will not fit a 2005 to 2009 Outback.

Do I need an adapter to carry a women's bike frame with the raceway Pro 3 bike rack?

Asked by: DParker
If the bike in question has a significantly slanted top tube, you will most likely need a top tube adapter so the bike can be loaded on to the Raceway Pro 3 Bike Trunk Rack:

I have a honda pilot suv. Will this rack work? Before I purchase.

This trunk rack is not compatible with a Honda Pilot. Thule does not make a 3-bike trunk rack that is compatible with your vehicle.

Can you put 3 mountain or comfort bikes on this rack or just road bikes?

Asked by: melverj
The Raceway Pro 3 bike trunk rack can hold mountain or comfort bikes. If you are carrying a bike with a slanted or non-traditional top tube, a frame adapter is recommended:

A reviewer commented that the two bike model does not provide enough room between bikes, but the three bike model (if used for two bikes) might. Would it make more sense to buy the three bike model and use it for two bikes to avoid this issue?

Asked by: Eric
The two bike model does provide sufficient room between bikes, but whether or not two bikes are going to fit does depend on the bikes themselves. Some larger bikes do have trouble fitting on racks with other bikes, but that is not common. In general, it is not necessary to buy a three bike rack for two bikes.
