Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great kayak for the price I sold my two 14 ft Wilderness Systems kayaks in hopes of replacing them with something a little less hassle to load and haul. After a lot of looking and reading reviews I ended up back with Wilderness Systems. I drove over to REI to see how it felt. Bought two that day. Put them in the water the next day and loved them. Took a few minutes to get the feel for a shorter length, but soon adapted. Tracks very well and sits a bit higher out of the water than our bigger kayaks (less splash). The selling point for me was the adjustable seat. It was by far superior than most of the other rather cheap setups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this kayak This is my first kayak, I bought this and my wife got a perception prodigy. I love everything about it. It tracks well, is stable, easy to get in and out of. I'm planning on doing some fishing and this is a great kayak for that. The seat is very comfortable, and adjustable. There are many accessories that fit in the track system, so far I have a flag, a rod holder and strap tie downs. My wife's kayak goes a little faster, but it's lighter and it's hull is not as flat, so it's more tippy. We loaded both on the back of our pickup and we're having a great time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Kayak! I bought these for my wife and I as our first kayaks. To us they are easy to get in and out of, have GREAT storage for food, clothes, and other things you want to keep dry in the hull. It's got great bungee storage on top of the back, and a great place to strap down your paddle if you ned to stop and rest and not hold onto the paddle. Two of them fit pretty good in the back of my 2016 Tacoma.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great 1st time boat! Purchased two (2) of these recently for my wife and myself. We've previously rented several different types of kayaks, and then decided to buy our own. These are great as they can be easily loaded into the back of our pickup; hang easily on our garage wall (we purchased the hangars also available at REI); and we've found they are very easy to paddle. Very stable in the water after just a few minutes of practice and orientation. Tracked well, and moved much faster in the water than we expected. The seats are comfortable, and we especially like the adjustments that can be made to them. Our only note to those thinking of buying this kayak is to be aware it's fairly heavy (approx. 54 lbs.), and may be too heavy for some folks to pick up and move around. It is however easily moved by two people, and can be dragged on grass or sand by one person with no problem. We're both in pretty good shape. I'm 65 and can lift this boat, but my wife (60) has a little trouble due to prior shoulder surgery. Definitely think these are great boats for the money. Sized perfectly and colors are awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this kayak I bought this kayak a year ago and have nothing but positive things to say about it. I use it to fish a local lake and have plans to try it out in Malibu this summer. It tracks well, is easily paddled, and is easy to load in and out of my pickup.

Lots of storage and room for movement of my legs and easy foot adjustments too. Its easy to load into our truck too. I'm on the other side of 60 yrs young and love my Wilderness 10'

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seat Pan Needs Drain Holes I'm amazed that I've not seen this problem mentioned in any on-line review. We've had this kayak for a couple of months and, overall, it's a pretty good boat for use on the small lake on which we live. It's not as stable as I had thought it would be but it tracks well and is pretty quick on the water. There are a number of convenient features and one rather major annoyance--the seat! While very comfortable, the seat has a serious design flaw. There are scuppers under the seat which would lead one to believe that any water collecting in the seat pan would drain right through. Wrong!!! There are no drain holes in the seat pan. If you are caught in the rain or get a heavy splash then you will sit in a puddle until you either dump the kayak over or sponge it out. Our boat sits on our beach and if I don't dump it after a rain with time for the fabric to dry then the paddler will sit wet. This would be very simple to fix simply by perforating the seat pan prior to installation of the fabric. Water also collects in the cup holder and accessory holders in the hull. I refused delivery on two Tarpon 100's because the under side of the hull was concave--as though it had been pushed in. My recommendation of the product would have a caveat about watching for the hull depression and the seat issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lake kayaking We have two sit-on-top kayaks and just purchased this one. What a delight! Tracks well, sits high on the water , and the back support is excellent! I am 6'2" and very comfortable. A must have if you like leisure treks on a lake!

Mango 100 hubby 6'1 190# likes this but friends says only get 12' pls explain pros and con on length

Asked by: First time
The length of boat you choose depends on your end use. For recreational kayaking, a shorter boat between 8-10' is a great choice. These are ideal for calm, flat water, turn easily and are very stable. Kayaks that are in the 10-12' range are more of a transitional touring boat which track better over distances or in choppy water, and usually offer storage in the hatch for gear. What is the difference between this kayak and it's angler sister version? *http://www.rei.com/product/882593/wilderness-systems-tarpon-100-angler-sit-on-top-kayak#tab-questionsAndAnswers"

Asked by: luhrenzo
The only difference between the regular Tarpon 100 and the Trapon 100 Angler is the fishing accessories that come with the Angler model. The Angler comes with Yakattack components: one 1-in. screwball; one 1.5-in. screwballs; 1 mighty mount; 1 VisiCarbon Pro safety light; 1 Zooka Tube rod holder.
