Very Pleased
Did alot of research and decided to purchase two Tarpon 100's from REI. My wife and I had high quality inflatable kayaks as our first kayaks and purchased these as a move up. They are very durable and stable. The seat is outstanding as is the storage areas. They track very well for 10' kayaks. We use them in both fresh water and salt water. They are okay in the ocean, but not meant for large waves. We paddle out when the ocean is flat and smooth. We used these almost every week end the first season and intend to do the same next year. They seem to be an excellent value.
Great kayak for the price
I sold my two 14 ft Wilderness Systems kayaks in hopes of replacing them with something a little less hassle to load and haul. After a lot of looking and reading reviews I ended up back with Wilderness Systems. I drove over to REI to see how it felt. Bought two that day. Put them in the water the next day and loved them. Took a few minutes to get the feel for a shorter length, but soon adapted. Tracks very well and sits a bit higher out of the water than our bigger kayaks (less splash). The selling point for me was the adjustable seat. It was by far superior than most of the other rather cheap setups.
Fantastic Kayak!
I bought these for my wife and I as our first kayaks. To us they are easy to get in and out of, have GREAT storage for food, clothes, and other things you want to keep dry in the hull. It's got great bungee storage on top of the back, and a great place to strap down your paddle if you ned to stop and rest and not hold onto the paddle. Two of them fit pretty good in the back of my 2016 Tacoma.
I love this kayak
This is my first kayak, I bought this and my wife got a perception prodigy. I love everything about it. It tracks well, is stable, easy to get in and out of. I'm planning on doing some fishing and this is a great kayak for that. The seat is very comfortable, and adjustable. There are many accessories that fit in the track system, so far I have a flag, a rod holder and strap tie downs. My wife's kayak goes a little faster, but it's lighter and it's hull is not as flat, so it's more tippy. We loaded both on the back of our pickup and we're having a great time!
Love this kayak
I bought this kayak a year ago and have nothing but positive things to say about it. I use it to fish a local lake and have plans to try it out in Malibu this summer. It tracks well, is easily paddled, and is easy to load in and out of my pickup.
Kayaking fun!
I bought this kayak a few weeks ago and have had lots of fun using it around our area. The seat is very comfortable and has good adjustablity. Lots of storage and room for movement of my legs and easy foot adjustments too. Its easy to load into our truck too. I'm on the other side of 60 yrs young and love my Wilderness 10'
just right for me
was looking for sit on with adjustable foot and dry storage with easy access - and this fit the bill better than any other. Bonus things they thought of: Love the adjustable seat back and bottom, and the ability to hold the paddle on either side with the bungee strap near the handle, water bottle holder. have taken it out twice so far. Very stable.
Great 1st time boat!
Purchased two (2) of these recently for my wife and myself. We've previously rented several different types of kayaks, and then decided to buy our own. These are great as they can be easily loaded into the back of our pickup; hang easily on our garage wall (we purchased the hangars also available at REI); and we've found they are very easy to paddle. Very stable in the water after just a few minutes of practice and orientation. Tracked well, and moved much faster in the water than we expected. The seats are comfortable, and we especially like the adjustments that can be made to them. Our only note to those thinking of buying this kayak is to be aware it's fairly heavy (approx. 54 lbs.), and may be too heavy for some folks to pick up and move around. It is however easily moved by two people, and can be dragged on grass or sand by one person with no problem. We're both in pretty good shape. I'm 65 and can lift this boat, but my wife (60) has a little trouble due to prior shoulder surgery. Definitely think these are great boats for the money. Sized perfectly and colors are awesome.
Happy paddler
The seat is comfortable, breathes when wet, and adjustable. The added padding on foot pegs feels great. It’s a sturdy boat with style. My favorite boat
Fun versatile boat w/ a flaw
I have owned this boat for nearly two years and love it. I also work at REI and sell these boats. There are two flaws, one minor and one negligible. The minor flaw is the levers on the foot pedals. They are frail and will break without extreme caution. Be careful and you will be fine. Most users aren’t and they break off. It happens w the boats we have on display all the time. The other negligible flaw is the handle design on the bow of the boat. The screw will eventually break loose and need to be replaced. It’s a minor issue. But the reason I got this boat is durability. I sometimes drag it by the handle and it puts strain on the screw holding the webbed handle to the boat. I have replaced mine twice. No big deal. Otherwise, I weigh 250 and usually have a 65 pound dog in the rear and while we ride low, we have a blast. I paddle lakes and the lower Salt River in AZ twice a week during the summer. Strongly recommend this boat or the 120 for bigger paddlers.
