Leaky Cuffs, good enough for the city

I got to try this jacket and the pants out in the recent Texas floods. In a straight downpour the jacket performs quite well. Once the wind starts blowing or if you need to raise your arms to work on things the sleeves leak because the velcro cuffs do not lock down enough. I'm 6'2" and while I don't have the biggest wrists they aren't small either. Their isn't enough velcro to lock it down. The pants preformed outstanding. I will be returning the jacket because at $200 your arms shouldn't get wet. I love Mountain Hardware gear, but the cuffs ruin the jacket.

Absorbs water - not a useful rain jacket
Jonathon Firnhaber

I sent this back to Mountain Hardware; still haven't seen resolution of that. When exposed to water, the fabric developed 3-4mm areas that looked like pock marks and absorbed water. The jacket looks nice and is comfortable in dry weather but water absorption is not a helpful quality for a rain jacket. Perhaps mine had defective fabric. Mountain Hardware customer service rep was dismissive and obnoxiously cool on the phone but reassured me it'd probably take less time than the 8-10 weeks they ask to resolve a warranty claim. Yay. By then it won't be the rainy season anymore. Really disappointed with a $200 rain jacket. Back to wearing my 20 year old North Face jacket - heavier, but it's kept me dry for a long time!

Deeply Flawed Design

I bought the "MH Mens Ozonic Stretch" recently having had two MH jackets in the past and I am deeply disappointed in it. In fact I would say that the jacket is a total fail. It was advertised as having pit zips but in fact it doesn't! It has two very short zips under the tricep area of the arm; by no stretch of the imagination could they be called pit zips! They will not provide any venting from the armpit area. The hood is described "2-way adjustable hood features a bonded, structured brim to hold its shape". Once again the description falls completely short. It is only adjustable around the face area with no other adjustment. When tightened up it is impossible to see forwards as there is no way of adjusting the back of the hood to pull it back from the face. The "structured brim" has no structure. It has no more stiffness than any other different part of the fabric. It flops around like a piece of tissue paper! Having already owned two MH jackets I am very unhappy at what they have done with this item. I have returned this jacket to the retailer and exchanged it for another brand. I wont be buying MH again. Review conclusion- Deeply flawed design; deeply flawed description; avoid at all costs!

Fell apart.

After one year of light use the lining fell apart, turning into something not even as strong as a cheap trash bag, rendering the jacket completely useless. The jacket was taken care of and not abused, when not worn but possibly needed it was rolled up and stored in its own pocket in my messenger bag or when not needed hung up on the hanger in my closet. So there is no reason that I can see that the liner would completely fail. I would NOT recommend this jacket or any other Mountain Hard Wear jacket with the same lining.

Waterproof? For maybe 10 minutes

At first glance, it seems like a dream come true. Stretchy and comfortable, waterproof, hardly. Wore it to a soccer game where it was raining constantly, not a hard rain, just steady. At first, the water beaded up nicely, but as the water kept coming, eventually it stopped beading and started soaking through. My shoulders became quite wet. Extremely disappointed with this jacket. I bought it for backpacking. I am super lucky the two times I had it in the high Uintas it didn't rain. I would have easily been hypothermic.

Chest pocket lets in water, gets wet on the inside

Good fit, sleeves are long (which, is bad for my shorter length - but may work for you), hood fits well and adjusts well, fabric has a nice hand. Typical rainy day today, had sunglasses in chest pocket - the pocket let in noticeable amounts of rain/water. This hasn't happened with other jackets - not sure if its the zipper, or some other culprit - but, its a deal breaker for me.

NOT WATERPROOF

Doesn't keep out water. What else is a rain coat for? Especially if you're moving quickly on a bike. Seems to be a somewhat common problem.

NOT WATERPROOF

It is a raincoat that doesn't keep out the rain. I bought this before a 6-month bike tour. I own a bunch of mountain Hardwear products that have all been good. I expected nothing less from this and am severely disappointed. I haven't washed it, didn't use it around campfires, nothing. Given the amount of positive reviews I see on the site it appears to me that there must be a small percentage of faulty jackets. If you are going to use this jacket casually and can return it if necessary, sure, go for it. But really, don't depend on it if you are going to be out in the wild for extended periods of time with no fixed address. It isn't reliable.

Hood

I really like most everything about this coat. The only reason i sent it back was because of the hood was to big. For this price of a coat I would think that they would have a 3 point adjustable hood. If i wasn't wearing a cap with a bill. The hood would keep falling over my face. Also I order the coat online an the color name was thunderhead grey. So i was surprised when it came more green then grey. So I would say it should be more like thunderhead green. Everything else about this coat I really like and would recommend it once they fix the hood problem. Which i would think it wouldn't take much since some of there lesser price coats have this feature.

Great jacket unless you want to stay dry

fits nice, lightweight, stretchy but simply just absorbs water. This jackets beads almost no water & wets out faster than any raincoat over ever owned. It s a good windbreaker & might be ok for mist or just running in & out of a car or store but no bueno for backpacking or prolonged rain.
