Fragile Retention System
I purchased this helmet two years ago. The wheel on the retention system broke off recently through normal usage. There are a few bicycling forums that discuss similar issues, so it appears this issue isn't necessarily uncommon. Both Giro and REI said that the helmet was out of warranty after one year, so I either need to pay for a repair or buy a new helmet. I expect the useful life of a helmet to be longer than two years. I'm happy with the Specialized helmet I purchased at my local bike shop as a replacement.
Giro Atmos II
I bought this helmet as a replacement for one that I was wearing when I had a bad crash. Were it not for my Giro Atmos, I would not be writing this review.
Best helmet company!
This is my third Giro Atmos helmet, the other two were cracked in crashes. One literally saved my life, after being airlifted and 6 months later I'm thankful for these strong helmets.
Replacement for Atmos I
This was a replacement for an Atmos I. I've worn it a couple of times and love it. The fit is the same. The straps and tightening device are a tad different but welcomed changes.
GIRO ATMOS II
LIGHT AND VERY COMFORTABLE, IT HAS A LOT OF HOLES SO IT MAKES FOR A COOL RIDE
I was disappointed with this helmet
The helmet would probably protect your noggin in a crash, but only if it stays on your head. The adjustable clasp/buckle kept sliding up and down on the strap, coming loose while riding, and eventually fell off and was lost. For $100 bucks I expect better than this.
Cools the head
I wanted a better helmet that gave better ventilation when riding. It does let in more air than my original cheapo helmet
Great Helmet
Lightweight, Comfortable and well ventilated. Straps are easy to adjust.
