I bought these pants for a 10 day trip to New Mexico -I have sensitive skin and don't like hiking in shorts, even when it's super hot out. They experienced a broad spectrum of weather, from snow in the mountains, to down-pouring rain, to 90+ degree weather, and I was always comfortable. The cargo pockets comfortably held my cell phone, field notebook, and a pencil, and nothing fell out even without a zipper or snap on top. My one complaint is the thinness, although it doesn't take away from the strength --I still managed to cut myself on rocks through my pants, but never left a mark on the pants themselves. I will take minor scrapes for the overall quality of these pants though, and plan on purchasing a couple more pairs for longer periods in the field!
I work in the parks field, and spend a lot of time outside on the trails, so needed a pant that would be durable but fit great and these fit the bill. They fit nicely through the with a mid rise waist, and have a straight fit through the thighs, but not too slim. The fabric is breathable, yet durable, and the legs zip off quite easily. I also like that the shorts are not too long, they have come down to about 2 to 3 inches above my knee. I am an athletically built 5'6" tall, 132 pounds, and the Size 6 fit me great.
I bought this this weekend and hiked in them for the first time yesterday and I love them so much I want to get them in EVERY color I can find! I am so sick and tired of hiking pants that have NO give (so you have to have them baggy to be able to bend your knees really high, like going up boulders, etc) and I am just sick to death of looking frumpy in baggy pants. I am 5'6, 125 pounds and the size 4 could NOT fit me any better than if they were custom made for me! They're nicely form fitting and the best part of all is they actually hide the (small but still there...) lumps on the sides of my hips. They actually look SO GOOD on that I would wear them anywhere! I feel CUTE in these compared to all of my other hiking pants / shorts. I would rate them a TEN if I could...
These pants were put to the test on Mt. St. Helens. They weathered a season with the least amount of snow in recent memory. They handled the harsh terrain, the glissade down from the mountain, all while feeling comfortable and looking stylish. And they clean up in a snap. They stretch, they fit, and they look great.
I bought these hiking. I LOVE the fabric, the fit, the fact they don't bag and sag after wearing them for a few hours! 5 stars! Kuhl pants have inconsistent sizing but a size 6 worked perfectly for me in this pant. I am 5'4" 125 lbs 29 waiste 35ish hips, longer legs shorter torso. You can conceal the zipper pulls and .the fact that they are convertible doesn't bug me...I could live in these pants!
Pros: waist is adjustable: has hidden pull tie inside. This isn't listed in description. Cons: made for small tukhus gals. Not enough room for us feminine figured ladies. I'm usually a size 10 but even size 14 in these was tight in the seat.
I just got back from 5 days of backpacking were I wore these pants every day. They were comfortable and functional. I "washed" them a couple of times in a lake or stream to get the dust off. They dried quickly. Once home with a washing in a real washing they look as good as new. There are no snags in the fabric and we were hiking an climbing over granite in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I could not be happier with these pants.
I've been searching for a great, utilitarian pair of trekking pants for some time now. These are not only flattering but were light weight on my recent trekking expedition to hike Aconcagua. I washed them in my hotel sink and they dried overnight for my flight home. Super cute and comfy, zippers are easy to take lower portion off or put back on. A+
I love these pants! Great for hiking and walking. Fit well, durable and very comfortable. Love all the pockets, they have turned into my daily pants. My only complaints is that I wish they came in a true black. The Kuhl website has more colors but no black.
fit is very true to size, and so is length. Fabric weight is not too light, not too heavy, just the right amount of stretch, and the seams and finishing are quality. I think they'll last a long time.
