Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pants, Inconsistent Sizing Pants are great and look very nice. They can be worn as dressed up khakis, or they can be worn out on the trail. I wore them in a rainstorm, and they are definitely water-repellent and stayed much drier than any other pants would have. My issue is the quality control/sizing. I have a few different pairs of these pants, all in the exact same size, but none of them fit the same. Some are slightly tight, some are slightly loose, some are just right, and they all have the exact same tag. Obviously, the sizes aren't perfect, so much so that I even ordered another pair of the same color, and it came and fit much better than the first ones that I took back. I wish REI would fix this. Other than that potential issue, really great pair of pants.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too short I just bought these pants, labelled size 38x34. Washed them in cold water before wearing. Put them on this morning to take a walk. Let's just say I could've waded in ankle deep water and the pants wouldn't have gotten wet. They are either mislabelled or REI has exceptionally generous tolerances. I measured them and they are actually a 32" inseam. Pockets and construction seem to be fine otherwise. My wife said they looked fine with my hiking boots, so I will keep them. Buy the longer inseam and roll them up if they're too long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great every day pants I work as a professional geologist and I've been using these for my every day pants both in the field and in the office for the last 10 years. They are very comfortable and the fabric is very durable. The zippers are the weak point and the only reason I can't give them 5 stars. I usually get 3 or 4 year of use out of the zippers and it's always a bummer because the rest of the pants are always in great shape when the zippers go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite pants I have tried many different brands Royal Robbins, Kuhl, Eddie Bauer to name a few. I usually get some kind of cargo pant to carry a Samsung Note Phone. The Kuhl pants don't look professional enough for work. The Royal Robbins pants didn't last very long and the Eddie Bauer weren't as thoughtfully designed as these pants. I like the hidden zipper cargo. I like the zipper rear pocket which prevents your wallet from falling out. I like the durable fabric. I have bought 4 pairs of these pants. The 32 inseam was too small for me but I was in denial. I owned a pair and got spray foam on them but replaced them. I also own a pair of the charcoal pants. Keep making these REI and please make more colors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable, but.... These pants are incredibly comfortable, I'll give them that; however, they have some issues. First, they come small so order a size or two bigger than you need. Second, they are the greatest lint brush known to man. Seriously! These pants will pick up every stray piece of hair and lint in your house. Make sure the color you buy matches your pets. Finally, they wrinkle incredibly easy. Make sure you lay them flat after they come out of the dryer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from may shrink too much I'd love them , but I'm a 34 inch finished bottom. Didn't think synthetics would srink

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would even pay full price for them I'm very much impressed with these pants. Well built, durable, comfortable against the skin, good pocket count and placement. Definitely usable from late fall to early spring. Too heavy for warm weather though. I bought these on sale, but would've certainly paid full price due to how well made they are.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I want to live in these pants all the time I wanted to write a review to balance the negative ones I saw here. Once you find a size that fits (I'm a 32 who likes pants a little long, so the 34 is ideal for me), these pants are awesome! I have worn them about 3/4 of the time since I bought them, and I never want to take them off. They are light and comfortable, attractive enough to wear on a casual day at the office, the pockets are just right (I like that they're mostly normal pockets with a zipper on the right back pocket). They're also very easy to clean; I've had little spills or whatever that scrubbed right off with a damp paper towel, and they dried super fast. I love that they don't have an integrated belt, because I can wear them with a normal casual belt for daily wear or put on my own webbing belt for time outdoors. I think these are perfect for traveling. I feel like I could hand wash them in a sink at night and hang them to dry by morning. They would probably do fine in the backcountry, though they're probably not as tough as the Sahara convertibles or whatever. If I were backpacking across Europe, I would bring two of these and nothing else. I love these pants. Just ordered a second pair.

What is the purpose for the zippered pocket inside the  left front pocket? Just curious.

Asked by: David H13
The purpose of the zippered pocket on these pants is for security and to keep items from falling out.
