Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rolling Thunder - 22inch Review I was a hesitant at first when purchasing the Rolling Thunder rolling luggage bag. I read the reviews carefully on last years model. Biggest concern was durability. Especially since others that purchased last years bag were unhappy with the bottom corners wearing out in short time. When I got my bag i was extremely satisfied! I saw that most of the issues were addressed for the new model. Love the size. Perfect for weekend trips and works as a carry on. Not to mention the great color way of the Black/Red Rolling Thunder. Definitely completes the overall look I'm going for when traveling for business. And the Lifetime warranty ensures me that North Face stands behind their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Home run for Mother's Day I spent a considerable amount of time researching available carry on luggage since I travel a lot for both for business and pleasure. I wanted a product that was durable, maximum legal size for a carry on (I don't like to check baggage and live out of my carry on for days at a time) and that "made a statement (looked good). The rolling Thunder is a home run. Purchased one for my wife for Mother's Day she was ecstatic! Replaced our existing leather high end bags (which had served us well for years) with the Rolling Thunder which is much lighter, easier to navigate with and expect to be using our new bags for a long time because of the excellent construction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rolling Thunder #2 This is my second RolllingThunder bag. I absolutely loved my first one because it could hold EVERYTHING I needed for my weekend jaunts to NYC and my vacations to Europe in the summer along with one other large suitcase. Unfortunately while moving my first Rolling Thunder was "misplaced" and I was devastated. When I realized what had happened to my wonderful side kick for travel, I ordered up a new one immediately for my trip to Europe and Africa. It is the best bag ever and I could never see me having anything but the Rolling Thunder to get me through an airport. Seriously you will NEED this bag once you have it in your hand. Anne

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this bag. I picked this bag up from REI to replace a Gravis Jetway bag that was destroyed by baggage handlers after a tight connection forced my bag to be checked. I loved the Jetway, but I love the Rolling Thunder even more. I fly weekly, and this bag has been all over the world with me. I am female and can easily do a week's trip in this bag with some compression cubes and strategic planning. I have the black one, and it gets a ton of compliments. I really love the smooth wheels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ready for adventure Great bag! I feel confident that the airlines will need some serious muscle to mess this bag up. Just flew with Delta and fit perfectly in the overhead compartment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indestructible I travel for a living. It was obvious, in my first year of travel, that the average piece of luggage is designed for a few trips per year. I went through every piece of luggage that I owned, in the first year. I've been using the 19" version, for 6 years, now. It's getting a little frayed, and has a few small tears, but is still fine. I'm retiring it to the vacation luggage. I've replaced that, and bought this size, as well. My favorite feature of this carry on, are the red wheels. I always know that it's my bag, in the sea of black carry ons!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great luggage!! This is a great piece of luggage. It looks great. Has a lot of pockets and holds up as a carry on. It's durable, but I wouldn't recommend checking this as it can get scuffed up. But as a carry on - it definitely earned its 5 stars. I also bought the matching backpack that turns from a backpack to a duffel. It serves as a computer bag and a nice over night. The all black is an awesome color. I like this set so much, I will likely purchase the 30" rolling thunder bag for my longer trips.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High quality, design makes it small I replaced an old Samsonite 22" rolling suitcase with the Rolling Thunder 22". The exterior dimensions TNF provides matches my Samonsite exactly. However, the Rolling Thunder has tapered sides, meaning the overall volume is much less than a suitcase that is perfectly rectangular. As a result, the Rolling Thunder is smaller than the suitcase I'm replacing. Other than that, the bag seems to be made with high quality... time will tell if it holds up to my ~15 year old Samonite.

Does this bag have compression straps on the inside of the bag?

Asked by: Bee619
The Thunder Wheeled Duffel does not have interior compression straps. The inside has lashing points so straps could be added separately.

Does this bag collapse down flat? I'm going to be on a catamaran for a week and need something that can flatten and stow away easily.

Asked by: morriepdx
No, this duffle does not collapse completely flat.

Are you able to fit this bag wheels first into the overhead bin or do you have to turn the bag sideways (thus taking up more space)?

Asked by: Sayforee
In a typical overhead bin, you can easily fit it in handle first (the wheels side is often too tall). No need to turn it sideways.

Does this bag stand up to baggage handlers in the event that it needs to be checked? I have a few Europe trips coming up, and I'm worried the tighter carryon size restrictions will force me to check the bag. Any feedback would be great.
