Solid bag, but how long will it last?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great bag. Just finished three week trip throughout Australia, Bali, and Singapore. Bag was packed full and carried a ton of stuff. There always seemed to be a little more room just when I needed it which was awesome. I am 5’7” and very proportionate. I fear that anyone taller (unless have long arms) will have a hard time pulling this bag vertically on its wheels. I was scrunched down a little while pulling and certainly would not be able to go great distances. Duffel also desperately needs a handle/grip on the wheel end of the bag as there is nothing to grab there when lifting. Now home - bag shows some wear in the stitching on the bottom and there is a slice / hole on the bottom which I’ll need to reinforce with duct tape so it doesn’t open further (see photos). Had this happened early in the trip and been a bigger hole - may have been a game changer. How well this bag holds up is yet to be determined. I’ve been all over the world for years with the green bag (photo). It is still in perfect condition. These bags are very different, however, in that the Migrate is a true duffel bag and my green bag has more structure (thus less room and more weight). For shorter trips I will still take the green bag and only use the Migrate when absolutely necessary due to the issues I’ve mentioned.
Happy Traveler!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great bag for quick trips in rugged environments. Easy handling for vehicles and cargo areas in small plans. 110L bag allowed me to pack twin air mattress, sleeping bag, a few days of clothes, and food. Love the hideaway backpack straps. Wheels are convenient for long walks on pavement. I did buy packing cubes to keep things organized. This bag is waterproof with a visible coating, but reinforcement bottom does not extend to the side opposite the wheels. This means the coating might be scraped by the ground occasionally when using the handle to pull the bag behind you.
Not bad for the price
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this for international travel. First trip a minor scuff on the bottom corner. Had a lot of black marks all over but most came clean with a Lysol wipe.
Great bag. Bag took a
Great bag. Bag took a beating with air travel, but no holes. Cleans up nice. Wheels are sturdy, but at 5’7’” I could have used just a little longer handle for when pulling with wheels, will consider an extender for the handle. Well-made zippers too!
I liked this bag so
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked this bag so much I bought a second one. For the type of travel our family does it is near perfect. Traveling for weeks to remote locations in less developed parts of the world where airports are usually simple dirt/grassy landing strips and much travel is in open wheeled 4x4s, this sturdy waterproof bag that holds a lot of stuff is perfect. For more conventional travel it does a very nice job, although non adjustable the handle can be either to short or long for tall people (me) or shorter people (kids) respectively.
Worst Design Ever
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dumbest design ever. Who makes a wheeled bag without a handle to easily pull the bag behind you? I’m on a trip now (for which I purchased the bag) and nobody can understand why a large wheeled duffle bag lacks a handle. One has to bend low to even keep the bag from falling over. So much for Eagle Creek luggage. While its large capacity and durability seem fine, the design makes me regret spending a lot of money for the bag. This one-time customer is just that: a one-time customer.
Ready for Africa
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am thrilled to have my new light green duffel bag with wheels vs. my old clunky canvas beige safari bag with no wheels. Having the water proofing and inside roominess is reassuring This new Eagle Creek duffel bag will withstand the airport mishandling and show less wear and tear. My Eagle Creek packing cubes will fit in here nicely and I'll be organized and happy for my 3 weeks in Africa on viewing safari. Thank You!!
Strange design but there’s a work around
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As others have noted, dragging this bag is very frustrating. You have to hunch over and the bag hits your heels and tips over constantly. I figured out a work around that has solved the issue. Pull out the back pack straps, extend them fully, run them through the top side handles, then through the top handle and latch them together using the clips. Use this as your handle when dragging it around.
It's a good bday for what I do.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far it's a good size and seems well made. With it not having a frame, the bag does like to tip on its side when going over uneven surface. However, the lack of having a frame does make the bag lighter. I had 48 out of 50 pounds allowed for the aircraft. I like that the shoulder straps get put away.
Hi Joshua, Thanks for leaving this feedback about your recent purchase. We hear ya regarding the lack of support on the back of this bag -- but, you're right! That is what helps it stay as lightweight as possible. If you are ever in the market for a duffel with more structure, you may want to check out our Cargo Hauler XT line. Happy travels,
Wheels just do not work!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a fully soft sided bag for safaris, I like the capacity, weight and materials of the bag but the wheels are useless. I even put tent poles cut to length inside the bag to give it more rigidity but it still tends to fall over when you pull it. It is nightmare pulling this through an airport!
