i got the chance to sleep on this pad on 2 different occasions and it served me great. self inflating - twist the nob to open the air channel, finished unloading my camping gear, came back 15 minutes later to a perfectly (for me) inflated sleeping pad for this 6'2" 165lbs man. if i needed it to be firmer, just a couple of deep breaths into the nob and that would do it. i sleep on my sides mostly, sometimes on my back, but never felt the ground when doing so. deflating and storing it is simple and fast. the pad appears to be made of durable material and appears it will last a long time - it better for the price i paid =)
I bought this to replace a thinner, low end air pad to use when we go car camping, and for short hikes into a camp. I think this pad is too bulky for most for backpacking, but great for my use. This pad is amazingly comfortably to sleep on. I am about 200 pounds and was very happy to see (or rather feel) the air staying throughout the pad, and not trying to escape from under my weight. I made the pad nice and firm, but like the possibility to make it a little softer for when my back is hurting. I have already recommended this pad to others, and will continue to do so.
Only used it once, but my experience so far has been great. Camped in Central Kentucky with the temp at about 15-20 degrees at night during mid-Fall. Kept me insulated, warm, and extremely comfortable throughout the night. I'm a bigger guy and was a little worried to about air leaks, especially with the cold temperatures, but I woke up with the same amount of air in it. The material and seams all seem really strong and well made - we'll see how it lasts over time though. Easy to use and stores really nicely with the included compression straps. Only thing I'm a little worried about is the weight on the trail for longer distance trips, but the size should be no issue when strapped to a backpack.
I bought this because a friend of mine had the exact same one. She's been using hers to camp every weekend during summer for the last three years. It is much wider and better cushioning than the Alps Mountaineering one I wasted money on. It sleeps very comfortable and doesn't crinkle when you move. However - The valve on this has apparently changed over the years. I found mine too be difficult. You twist and pull out on it too open the valve. Mine wouldn't self inflate as the valve wasn't letting air in. I had to open and close it several times to get it to breathe. Deflating it was the same. My friend's older model opens and closes much more easily and does not have to be pulled out.
Super cozy! Im a rather large man at 6’4” 250 lbs, my entire body was able to fit comfortable. I slept on the cold ground in a storm in alaska I was warm and slept very well. The mattress displaces air so joints arent compromised and uncomfortable. Very easy to blow up, usually about 7-10 breathes. Deflates slow but rolls up easy once a little air is out. For the animal lovers, my dog’s hair brushes right off with an open palm. Pad makes little to no noise when i move around. Thick material so my dog walks on it with no puncture worries. Only improvements would be a built in pillow but i mean, how spoiled do we want to be? Buy it, use it, love it!
After buying the Q-Core air mattress, and being pricey, I expected it to last a long time. Not even a year & it's gone flat. Looking for a new air bed, I saw & tried this air bed in my local REI store & loved the comfort & ruggedness w/potential to be waterproof on days I deal w/snow. I tried it out in 19° weather in Colorado, and loved the comfort it gave me in the snow! My hips or elbows never touched the ground & it was a very quick inflate while setting it up in windy cold weather! I highly recommend this affordable & very comfy air bed!
So this pad lasted me about 5 years. When it started leaking, I thought "Easy fix. Find the leak and patch it." Nope. Because of the internal air pockets or whatever, the leak was inside of the pad, and the the bubbles (I was holding it underwater) were coming through the top layer in about a 2 foot long strip Since the actual leak is inside, there is no way to repair it and it is now trash. I guess 5 years is good for a pad? I just wish it wasn't such a throwaway kind of world.. Often times it feels like you're only renting things , only instead of returning them, we just trash them.
This bed is awsome!] Super easy to inflate; you basically just open the valve, let it lay for a bit, and close the valve. Not saggy at all so far and I've been sleeping in it every day; haven't had to re-inflate it much. Its pretty comfy too; I was also able to try out the Display at my REI store if that means anything. Comes with a carrying bag I'm on a 2 month long road trip and I fits perfectly in the bed of my 2010 Tocama( its a about 72 in or so...?). I would like to know if they make a cover for it though or if its easy to wash/ clean. Not that mine is super dirty or anything but I just like to clean and take care of the things I have.
Bought two, figured 2.5" was better than 1" yet still cushy as the 3". Hands down the best pad I've purchase. I slept fetal position mostly and I did not wake up cramped. If you are into camping, this is a must buy. FYI, I'm 5'5, 145lbs. If you're a heavier person, I'd recommend getting the 3". That size was too luxurious for me. Not sure about the usage for the 1". Make sure to roll slowly and tightly, otherwise you'll have one big round roll due to the self inflate mechanism.
We went camping in the Sierra's, Silver Lake, and we popped our tent basically on a granite rock. Using the self inflatable mattress was the most comfortable rest I ever had camping, exception being when I was a kid. The only complaint I would have with it is that it was a little narrow for me but that was not that big of a deal, the fact that I woke up the next day, every day, without cramps in my neck and back made up for my arm flopping off the side:).
