For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

+Airy +Lightweight +Flashy +Excellent fit!!! -Flashy -Weak camber I've used these at the gym once and on five or six all day sessions and I love them more than any rock climbing shoe I've ever owned (about 5 pair). They're the first shoes that I don't rip off immediately after a climb. I'm not doing anything crazy though - 5.11s on a good day. Really stoked to have a shoe that I don't dread putting on.
A decent all-around shoe, except for toe hooks. Slim and packable. Comfortable to wear for hours, but gets sweat-slippery inside because of the synthetic materials, and stink worse than leather if you don't wash them. For me, the heel shape is a too loose for heel hooks that carry a lot of weight; the bottom of the heel folds and the shoe peels off my foot. Also for me, the midfoot is loose enough that it's hard to stay on shallow negative holds.
I'm relatively new to climbing, and these are my first pair of climbing shoes. I would recommend them for beginners. I have only used them in the gym, and have not tried them outdoors. The shoes are pretty comfortable, which stems from not having an aggressive design. I even leave them on while belaying. The trade-off is that, as I start to do 5.10a routes in the gym, I'm starting to see the limitations. Even though it's a snug fit, my feet shift ever so slightly inside the shoe when they get sweaty, making it difficult to confidently use the tiny holds. The adjustable velcro straps allow me to fit them more closely than shoes with regular, parallel velcro straps. They're starting to smell ripe after 6 visits to the gym. I haven't tried washing them yet, but it's a good thing they're washable.
The toe box started separating at about 5 months in. The edges of the velcro started fraying about a month in. The grip is good for both indoor and outdoor climbing. Decent for edging and smearing, less than mediocre at everything else. Unfortunately, the local store didn't have them a half size smaller me. For reference: I've used these about 3-5 times a week for 6 months at an indoor rock climbing gym. They only made 2 trips to Yosemite. While I do admit this is quite a bit of use, it's disappointing to see it's lifespan is so short.
I thought I'd switch things up and get something other than Nagos, but I didn't love these. They perform alright, but they seem to have worn out faster than the rubber on Nagos. Also, as has been noted in other reviews, these stink! I don't know if it's the synthetic upper or what, but these do get smellier than any shoe I've owned.
I purchased these looking to expand my climbing shoe horizons. I had been climbing in the Nago's for a couple months and I wanted a second pair of shoes I could use indoors and transition back and forth between while having them resoled. Not only did my Nago's last longer than these shoes, but they were more comfortable and better functioning all around! I also noticed that the Oxygym's retained odor a lot more than any other shoe I've used, even after washing them. I know what you may be thinking, but I'm not the kind of person who removes his shoes and clears the room. These shoes.. The fabric.. They just, STANK! So my Nago's (same price), are going in to be resoled, and these are going in the trash. The only positive thing I can say about this purchase is that it inspired me to do a service and write a review. Hopefully preventing someone from making the same mistake I made.
I've now owned these shoes for about four months and use them 4-5 days a week for a couple hours. They have held up wonderfully. Obviously climbing shoes need to be tried on because every brand is so different, but for these I went down a full size from my street shoe. They're not aggressive really and can be worn even while belaying if needed.
These match my Trapper Keeper from the 90's perfectly and I never have to worry about accidentally picking up someone else shoes in the gym. They feel stable and grip tightly. Took about a week to break them in. Velcro straps allow me to cinch them down as tight as I need.
I really like these shoes, the velcroe is convenient and the shoe really improved my climbing skill. Now that I have improved I want a more agressive shoe but this shoe was a great stepping stone.
Great shoe for someone who is rather new. I've been climbing in them pretty steadily for about a year now, and the shoe only has minimal wear and tear. Would definitely recommend.
