Great for cancer patients!
This was the second Buff I purchased to wear since losing my hair to chemotherapy. I absolutely love them! I wanted something comfortable, practical, fun, and with lots of personality. The Buff delivers and then some! I have been wearing them daily for several months, and they are so comfortable that sometimes I forget that I am wearing it. I've received so many compliments on the fun colors and personality -- I have three of them. I highly recommend these to other cancer patients -- they're great!
Simply effective
simply a tube of cloth with unfinished edges, but it is remarkably effective with a number of uses. It cuts the wind and is warm. You can use it to cover your ears, nose, mouth, neck and/or head. I have several. Thank you.
85% Functional
Originally, I bought this because it was recommended to be used to keep your hair out of your face, especially if you have long hair, and want to minimize the use of elastics while still feeling secure. Moreover, I was excited to find that there was one marketed for insect control! Ultimately, it is incredibly functional for that initial purpose (hair control), and definitely was very light and comfortable. It kept my eyebrow length bangs out of my face, and kept my hair from sticking. However, the Insect Shield or repellent element was lacking, as it repelled insects after contact, without any shield effect or increased bug-free perimeter. I purchased the Insect Shield BUFF over the cheaper general one, because I hate hearing the sounds of mosquitoes or flies buzzing around my ears when I hike and don't want to wear DEET on my face. This did keep the buzzing sounds down, but instead of my auditory irritation, it instead had a way of redirecting the insects directly in front of my face to the areas that were exposed, mainly my eyes, nose and mouth, with is just as irritating if not more so. Don't waste the extra $9 dollars on any of the gimmicks. But I would recommend buying a sale version ASAP, and I will look forward to getting a wool one for winter.
It works! Mosquitoes won't bite through it.
I've gotten to use this a few times and never been bitten where it covered, even on the mosquito infested Assateague Island. If the mosquitoes are bad they may try to bite near it, but you can cover most of your head with it. Highly recommended.
Keeps sun and bugs away
Bought this primarily to keep the sun off my neck, and secondly to keep the bugs from getting my neck and ears. I found that hiking and exploring in the South East US you need a good defense against mosquitoes and gnats. I have 3 of these and use them on most hikes I've 3-4 miles. In windy conditions where I am in a dusty climate (west Texas and desert southwest) I also use it to cover my airways. Very versatile product, breaths well and protects from sun and insects. I never go into the field without one.
Fresh and Cozy
This is a multi-purpose headband majiggy! :D I was able to wear this in multiple ways, which was awesome! It not only kept me cool and free from the sun, but it kept me warm as well. In early hikes, I'd cover my mouth/nose area, and it felt warm and cozy. In the afternoon/evening hikes, I'd use it has a headband, neckband, covered my head with my cap on, etc. Very useful and better than a regular bandana! GET ONE! :) -- and at first, I was like WHOA, THIS IS TIGHT!! haha but it's for a reason!! :)
Variety of uses
This can be used in a bunch of different ways, depending on what you're doing. Works great to keep sweat out of your face while your hiking, and was perfect for keeping dust out of my mouth and nose while walking along a dirt road. It's amazing how the skin touching the cloth feels cooler. Haven't had it out when bugs were around, so can't speak to the effectiveness of the repellent, but either way I'll never go hiking without this again.
Love My Buff!
Keeps dust, dirt and insects out of my face, especially mouth. It’s perfect in the heat or in colder weather when you’re active, but still need face protection. I also love that most Buffs have UV protection as well.
Buff uv insect shield
First and foremost this thing does not keep the insects away. Got a big bite on my neck the main area of protection had about 20 nats flying near my mouth luckily they couldn't get in. Does protect against the sun.
Yes, a Buff with UV Insect Shield
I really like this thing. It's going to Spain with me to walk the Camino de Santiago. I think it will be used for many things.
