Great!
I bought this harness to use for multiple purposes. I do some glacier travel (mountaineering), some indoor/outdoor rock climbing, and some snow/rock mixed scrambles. This harness fits the bill for all the uses and is comfortable for what I do. I am 27" waist 36" hip and bought the size small/medium (marked a small on the order form)....after I bought the medium and it was too big. The size chart doesn't match the packaging, you get a size small/medium or a medium/large,. The size small fits me snugly enough for use over light layers while being adjustable enough in both the waist and leg loops to fit over my heavy layers for glacier and snow mountaineering.
Wanted to Love This
I really wanted to love this harness--it's very comfortable and easy to use, with great options for gear loops. However, Petzl uses a dual size system (small/medium, medium/large, large/extra large). There is no extra small, and I found that I pretty much maxed out the waist adjustment. I didn't like the idea of only having another half an inch to tighten the harness so had to pass on this one and choose a different brand. I tried it on multiple times trying to convince myself it would work, but fundamentally the dual sizing didn't work for me. If you're between sizes or at the top or bottom end of a particular size, this could be an issue for you too.
Not what it used to be
I've owned 2 previous iterations of this product and I loved them. I am an avid climber. I climbed for years, outdoors on the weekends an average of 2 weekends a month and indoors 4 times a week. I go through harnesses fairly quickly and have to buy new ones at least every 2 years. I climb in the BD primrose, Petzl Luna & Selena-- the Lunas were always my favorite. So when it came time to buy a new one I thought to check out the updated 2013 version. At the outset, my impressions of the new one where that it was heavier and had more (than necessary) material which could be a good thing depending on who you ask. My previous one had a minimalist design, highly breathable mesh material and a sturdy construction. The gear loops were the only negative with the old design. They were a tad bit flimsy but other than that the old Lunas were awesome. These new ones feel substantially heftier, the leg loops fit differently and the material is not as breathable as the old ones. I find I have to wash them after a few months of use because they track dirt so easily. I wish they kept the old mesh design. It was lighter and better. There are construction issues that I've noticed with these as well. My belay loops do not seem to hold up as well as my old ones. I can see a substantial amount of wear for the same amount of use in the 6 months I've owned it. I am assuming I will have to buy a new harness sooner with these. I doubt I will buy it again. Very disappointed at the change in quality. The old ones were so good! I wish they would have kept the old design. Why mess with a good thing!?
This harness broke within months
I bought this harness a few months ago. Unfortunately, I went on a climbing trip with it and it literally BROKE. The straps have just unattached themselves from the harness. Note - I treat my gear VERY WELL. This break seriously makes me question the integrity of the harness. I'm very lucky that it did not happen on a climb. Unfortunately it broke while I was on a climbing vacation and I called REI and they couldn't help me, which is really disappointing. Their only solution was that I buy a new harness that would arrive in the mail 5-8 business days away (ruining a climbing vacation) or pay for a new harness AND an express order. This is horrible. Petzyl and REI need to do a better job of selling quality gear and backing it up. Don't buy this harness if you don't want your harness to fall apart. Oh, and on a side note, it pinches between the legs. This isn't just my opinion, but the opinion of any of my girlfriends who own it as well.
Comfortable
It's very comfortable. I really don't even notice I'm wearing it, unlike men's harnesses that I've used in the past. While it's advertised as an ice climbing harness, it works just as well for rock climbing or indoor climbing.
Very comfortable
I bought this harness to replace my old Petzl harness because of age. It is so much more comfortable! I can sit in it all day long!
