I really wanted to like this harness based off of all the stellar reviews but it just didn’t work for me. Based off of the sizing recommendations provided, I’m solidly within a size small. Even with having the waist and leg loops synched as tight as possible it felt too big, especially on the leg loops. The leg loops themselves are tapered at such an angle that they would not sit flat against my legs, even with adjusting the length. I tried to make adjustments and climbed in it once but just couldn’t make it work. Returning.
I climb a couple days a week outside (both sport and trad) and I've had this harness for about a year and the gear loops have already broken. I liked this harness a lot until it happened. The inner plastic piece rubbed through the fabric outside on 2 of the 4 gear loops. I don't want to risk losing any gear outside, so now I just use it as a gym harness.
This harness does the job- I havent died. It's lacking in gear loops and the size is one too small for me, despite being fitted by an REI employee:/ I would have traded it in, but it keeps me safe and knowing they have to dispose of any safety material (like in the trash) I just couldn't get myself to return. I say all of this, but I still have to wear it as tight as it goes around my torso, but REALLY wiggle to get it off me. It's mildly comfortable, but never seems to line up in the back and it's not the lightest. I have worn this in the gym and outside- leading, following, trad, and sport. I think it's great first harness, but feel the need to upgrade once I collect more gear and setting trad.
I've been using the same harness for the past few years or so, and I was so excited to try this one. I'm 5'3, 125 pounds, and wear a size 2 (generally) in most climbing pants and jean brands. The size small fit perfectly, and I still had a good amount of room to adjust both the waist loop and the thigh loops. Also, given that this harness is made for alpine and multipitch pursuits, it definitely lived up to the expectation. I tried it both indoors and outside on a multipitch climb, and it was really, really comfortable. Great harness!
I'm a fairly casual rock climber but enjoy climbing. I have used this harness quite a bit and have found it practical and beginner friendly. I used it in the climbing gym for top roping. The harness is comfortable but feels secure. I am 5'4" and ~118 lbs and found the small size to be a little large (had to have on the smallest settings) while the xs seemed to fit a little better. The color is nice. Frankly, for a beginner harness this is a great choice and the fit is comfortable. It's been used by a number of friends before they have purchased their own harnesses and seems to work well for a variety of body types and shapes. If you're looking for a first harness, this is a great choice.
This harness is great EXCEPT for the fact that the gear loops overlap! Every time I rack up with a full doubles rack I have problems with my carabiners getting stuck on the adjacent gear loop! Very frustrating. Works fine for sport climbing.
Overall, I really like this harness. It is padded in the right spots and very comfortable and I really like the color. It is very easy to adjust and there is plenty of space in the leg openings. The thing I don't much like about it is that I have curvy hips and a bottom and the large was a little tight getting up my backside, but was fine with plenty of room once on my waist. I also wish this came with a stuff sack as it got a little tangled in my bag with my other stuff. I have only used this at the gym so far but am looking forward to taking it out this spring as there is plenty of space and lots of loops for all of my gear. Would buy this again and would recommend it to others as long as they're not too curvy.
Do not recommend for curvier women! I'm 45" hips, 34" waist, 5'5" 180lbs. The size L harness just fit over my hips but when I tested climbing in it (indoors), one of the back elastic straps actually dug/cut into my lower rear/upper thigh so much that it made me bleed! Was hoping for something more comfortable than the gym rental harnesses, this was much worse!
First of all, I know a color is just a color....but this harness makes me SO HAPPY thanks to it's beautiful two-tone purple fabric and coordinated buckles, webbing and loops. Seriously, It's so nice! The buckles themselves are really sturdy and easy to move, which really helps when my fingers were getting tired! Also, I felt that the weight distribution was really balanced while on belay. Great harness!
I was a bit disappointed in this harness. It was easy enough to put on and adjust but that was about it. I found it to be uncomfortable. Every time I was being lowered the harness dug into my legs and I felt a bit unbalanced.
