Great starter shoes

Considered the MB088 as well for a easy to wear, beginning road cycling (triathlon training, light commuting) shoe. Ultimately chose these because of versatility to add both road and mountain bike pedal clips.

Solid and stiff road bike shoe

These are my first anchored bike shoes, overall they work great for road biking. There is open channels for air flow and the stiffness transfers power efficiently. Only missing one star for the fact that they seem to need foot beds.

This is my first road cycling shoes and they are very comfortable. The ratcheting clasp works well. I have no complaints.

Beware of the cold draft!

These are good shoes, but have one serious flaw; the vent hole in the front of the sole. Shimano partially fixed the problem this year by putting mesh in the hole, rather than having the open hole found on the previous version (easy access for small pebbles). However, the hole yet remains. I don't have a sweaty foot problem, so it may be a great tool for those that do in hot weather, but my first cold weather ride resulted in near frost-bite on my toes by the time I got to work. Cold air just streamed in through the hole as I rode and left my feet chilled beyond any feeling. Since my winter shoe-covers do not cover the hole on the bottom, I was forced to duct tape...yes duct tape my shoes to prevent the cold air from getting in. The engineers at Shimano did their best to address the problem of sweatyfootitis that plagues many riders, but failed to make this an optional choice by providing a cap or some sort of plug to prevent cold or wetness from forcefully entering the shoe and ruining your ride. No one should have to duct tape brand new cycling shoes....no one. What a sticky mess to clean come Spring!

so so

These shoes are lightweight and well ventilated. They are nice for hotter environments. The soles are no more stiff than the Shimano touring shoes, which was disappointing and they seem to be difficult to clip when using an spd pedal.

Very Nice, light and rigid

Very comfortable and light weight. If you are looking for a nice pair of road shoes these will fit the bill. Also they are set up for the sl and the spd cleat. These are road shoes to they will be hard to walk around in especial with the spd cleat.
