"Big Mans Chair"
This chair was a replacement of my old chair. Mind you this the perfect chair for a man my size 6'5" / 260 lbs. Believe me I shopped and looked hard for my replacement. This is a little pricy but you have no good choice. If you go cheap you get less durability, style, bag cover flimsy, and features. All in all the chair is comfortable with the side pouch as a extra for your book, flashlight, storage, etc. This is definitely not a back packing chair, I use the REI Trail Stool for that. Other than that I would recommend it any where else you go. Enjoy! -Big JOhn

Amazing Chair with the World's Worst Cupholders
I love this chair. Random people comment about how nice this chair is. The color is true to the photos, it's structurally stable, the fabric it has seems like it'll last for a decade or more with moderate to extensive use, it's comfy, the pocket is extremely useful, and the size is perfect where most chairs are too small for me and don't fit my shoulders/lats very well (I'm 240 lb/109kg, 6ft/183cm). With all of those good things to say about it, why on earth should I give this otherwise perfect chair only two stars? It's because of the cup holders. Look at their design and notice how it's shaped like a coffee cup. It seems like it could hold everything: water bottles, coffee cups, soda/beer cans, soda/beer bottles, mugs, glasses, etc. Right? So very wrong. The exact opposite is true. It doesn't hold anything well. A beer can will lay sideways because there is no support for it, spilling your beer everywhere. Same story for every other cylindrical drinking apparatus. What about coffee mugs? I have a 16oz mug with a lid that will hang by the lid because it doesn't fit through the plastic socket, and if you say "Just use a smaller mug", I would then ask you to try removing the mug from the cupholder without spilling it. Have you ever lost a string in a pair of athletic shorts before, then you'll be prepared to get that mug because that same method of retrieval is required to pick up your coffee. I have spilt too many drinks in this chair that have landed on the ground, on the chair itself, and on my body to not write this review. I recommend this gets looked at and that compensation be available to those who feel they've lost more money in drinks than this chair costs, or give out some sort of short-term solution until the design of this chair is fixed. I believe in you REI =) TLDR: I do not recommend this chair in its current form, the cupholders are literally the worst. Please wait for the next iteration that will hopefully have better cup holders. Thanks for reading.

The Ultimate Dad Chair

I love this chair. Is it huge? Yes. Don’t matter. When you open this bad boy and plop your booty down a wave of relaxation washes over you and all is right in the world for a brief moment. The cup holders are a lovely tapered shape that holds my bubbly water and my nalgene equally well. It even fits a book nicely! I love this chair and emanate the most glorious dad vibes whenever I lounge. Everyone is jealous of my chair. You should get one so they can be jealous of you too.

Best glamping chair

Yooooooooo so if you want the roomiest most comfortable beach/camping chair, this is it!!! I’m 6’ tall and weigh 165 and I love how much storage and room there is sitting in the chair. I used it in my new kingdom4 tent that I just purchased with the foot print and mud room and it fit perfectly next to my twin size memory foam mattress in the tent to sit in front of the heater and relax in privacy!!! Love REI equipment and jackets and pants and all there stuff!!!!

Super comfy and sturdy

Sadly, I only use it when not otherwise occupied. FYI, the drink holders hold Nalgene bottles and other containers perfectly. The side pocket is very handy. Great for humans, better for dogs.

The "Xtra" is for "Xtra comfy!"

My wife and I spent a day searching for camp chairs and REI turned out to have solutions for both our criteria. This is the chair she settled on - she describes it as a "chair-and-a-half for camping." It's roomy enough for her plus one of our kids to sit on, and with a weight rating of 400lbs (400? INSANE!), we're not worried about it falling apart any time soon. The only down-side (not necessarily a "con"), could be that the enormously oversized cup holders don't hold small beverages very well (eg. a beer bottle). The bag is roomy enough to get the chair in and out easily, and it feels like a much sturdier construction than the "sporting store" variety.

Sturdy and Comfortable

I was looking for a fold-up chair that won't break quickly. This chair meets that requirement very well. I'm impressed with the sturdy construction. It's also roomy - more than I needed. On the negative side, these are quite a bit heavier than the inexpensive fold-up chairs sold at discount stores. I was hoping for a chair back that was high enough to also be a headrest. This chair back isn't that tall. I can slide down in the chair and lean my head back, but that wouldn't be comfortable for long events. Overall it's a good chair.

Top Tier

Well worth the price and that is an understatement, nice chair very sturdy. Dark teal and grey irl, very pretty. Slight Padding in the seats, strong support webbing, oversized cup holders, storage pouch with main pouch plus 3 mesh pockets. Bonus padding on the end of the arm is a nice touch to add comfort when standing up or resting wrists on chair. Overall, sturdy, nice looking chair, perfect for big and tall, or elderly users and smaller people could curl their legs up and get cozy. I gave 4 stars because I haven’t used it in the wild yet, but I’m expecting no problems. Unbeatable value for the price! This chair was $35 US when I bought on 6/30/22

Get ready to save your seat.

Get ready to fight for your seat. Every time that I got up to stoke the fire, go to the cooler, or grab something from my tent, somebody would take my seat. They preferred this chair to their own. It's almost like having a love seat to yourself. It's pretty sturdy. All of the seams and connections are more durable than folding chairs found else where. That's what sold me on this chair. Plus REI backs up it's gear. There are only two minor cons. One would be my preference for a higher back. But it's so comfy that I'll get over it. Two would be one of the plastic grommets have shown signs of wear after my second trip with it. I'm a bigger boy, and I'm hoping it's just settling in. If not, I'm sure REI will back up this otherwise excellent product.

So Much Chair for your Money!!

My husband and I are tall, able body people and these chairs are more than big enough to seat us comfortably! The back is slightly padded and the cupholders are big enough for a cup with a handle to fit securely. I bought two on sale and keep bragging about how nice they are that I would have paid full price no questions asked! They fold up like a dream. While in their sleeve, there is a sling to go over your shoulder and a hand loop on the end to pull them out of your car or to lift them straight up. I cannot say enough good things about these chairs!

Uh, this has been used before I bought it

I bought this chair thinking it was new-just on sale (just a co op item) and I open it up and I find pistachio shells....even if it was used (which it wasn’t advertised to be) I’d expect it to be at least opened up and viewed before sold... I’m just, at a loss of words. Also this chair is huge and heavy. I guess that’s what happens when stores aren’t open.
