Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deterrent, just barely This is pretty useless. Theft deterrent only. Fine for an additional lock, but DO NOT use this as your primary. I watched a surveillance video of the guy who stole my bike snip this in less than 10 seconds. Just a warning.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Locks and won't let go Should have read the other reviews. Same issue. Set my combination, tested it a couple times and everything seemed ok. Then when I went to actually use it, I could not insert the lock. I set it to my original combination but could not put it in reset mode. The worst part, you can just turn the comniation until you see a clear path in the barrel. This was NOT my combination and I could still not reset it using this number so I assume all locks may have this hidden back door of a combination that works. In any case, stay away!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not What They Used To Be I have owned three Kryptonite bike locks for several years, and over time two of them have been lost. I decided to replace them with the same brand, because the old ones had given very good service. The new ones are not as well made, the number wheels are hard to turn, and do not have the same clean crisp feel as the old ones. I noted that the new ones are made in China. No indication where the old ones were made.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I had to steal my bike back I ride to class, grocery store, etc 4-5 days a week. I had been using the lock for 4 months and I had to steal my own bike back because it wouldn't come undone. The part were hard to fit together and pull apart from day one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only for the wheels This lock is sufficient to secure wheels, when used with a more heavy duty lock to secure the frame. But if you use this lock alone on any bike that has any significant value, a thief will easily get past it with some bolt cutters. I know from first hand experience, and I won't be letting that happen again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad mounting design I purchased this lock for use on my mountain bike. I needed it to mount under my seat on the seat post. I was disappointed to see that the mount was a nylon strap. I torqued it down as titght as it could go and off I went out on the trail. After half a mile of bouncing over roots, the lock was flopping hitting me in the legs. Looks like a good lock but the mount is flimsy. I am talking this one back

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed early and easily defeated Purchased because I needed a somewhat secure lock for commuter use and I liked the idea of a lock that I didn't have to carry a key for. Worked fine for a while then the lock refused to open. Combination that I set that had worked for weeks (I set it to match my alarm code for work, so it was easier to remember) When I returned to my bike with a dull hacksaw, it took me less than 3 minutes to saw through the cable. Purchased a U lock and a cable to replace this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It Won't Unlock This lock simply won't let go even using the factory preset number. Email requests for assistance sent to the Kryptonite web site have gone unanswered to date. I should have read the REI reviews before purchasing.

lost combination how do I reset combo

Asked by: jgo
The steps for resetting the combination on the KryptoFlex 1218 are as follows: 1. The lock needs to already be unlocked 2. Push down the two Reset Buttons simultaneously with thumb and forefinger, and turn counterclockwise until it comes to a stop. You are now ready to turn the dials to set your secret combination 3. After setting your secret combination, turn the two Reset Buttons again by Thumb and Forefinger clockwise until it comes to a stop and back to its original position. 4. Verify your new combination before using your lock. Insert the Lock Post all the way into the Locking Port but do not turn the dials. Pull out the Lock Post. Your lock is ready to use. Detailed instructions can also be found on Kryptonite's website. You can also register your combo with Kryptonite in the event that you forget the combo.
