Very sturdy, look sharp
Got these to go on my 2011 Honda Fit. I splurged and got the Aero Bars because I wanted to minimize any gas mileage reduction. With just the bars (no load) I did not notice any decrease in mileage. They seem really sturdy. A couple of tips - the fat edge of the bar faces forward on the vehicle, like an airplane wing. This is not really explicitly stated in the directions. Second tip - search YouTube for installation instructions, particularly if you are using them with a fit kit. The Thule instructions are all pictorial (not in written language) and deciphering them was like some kind of IQ test that I felt like I was failing. I found multiple YouTube sites that had excellent step-by-step instructions for installing the fit kit and load bars, specific to my model of vehicle.
Lacks vital pieces.
Turns out that you need to drop another $200 on a footpack, something that we were unaware of until the racks came in the mail and a vital part of the roof racks were not included, despite their inclusion in the photos. Nowhere in the description does it say an additional footpack is required. Will be returning because this product is actually around $400, not the $200 it seems to be.
Nothing fits on these bars
These are relatively quiet, and they should be for the price. However, be prepared to be forced to buy Thule and only Thule carriers if you have these bars. They are so wide that attachments from other manufacturers will not work, even with aeroblade adaptors. These did not fit with my Malone kayak rack, or a saddle kayak carrier on my boyfriend's car. I refuse to pay a small fortune and trade all my current carriers in for Thule products. These went back and I'll be switching to a square-bar system, even if it's more noisy.
Thule Bars
Originally tried to buy Yakima but would not fit. Took them back to the REI Tigard and Bill spent at least an hour making sure I got the right rack for the right price. He was awesome!
Too big but will have to do
I put these on our Audi Allroad, to find the bars extended out further than what I had projected. Returned them for the shorter version, which didn't extend to my rails. Ended up having to deal with the 47", and will likely take them to a nearby fab shop to get them trimmed to my liking. The AeroBlade does make a whistling sound from 20 - 60 MPH, and is vividly noticeable when you have the sunroof open.
Works well, poor instructions
Once assembled the Thule Aeroblades and podium mounts work very well. I do think for the premium price I paid, Thule could have hired someone to write better instructions. One simply has to figure it out on ones own. The non-Thule sponsored videos on YouTube were my only solution. I would give them a 5 star rating if better instructions were provided.
Thule AeroBlade Bars & Force L Roof Box
Just bought these for a trip from Arizona through the northwest to British Columbia. About 2500 miles so far. The bars and box create very little wind noise and, from my mileage figures, not too much drag. Did well in a driving rain, but slight water seepage in the front. Best of all, it left room in the car for the dog.
Versatile, quality bars
These bars are very quiet and will hold just about anything you might want to put on them with ease. They look sleek, are well-built, and don't affect my MPG's. Works for me!
