Good Helmet - It works

I crashed on a Mountain Bike, concussion and memory loss. Helmet saved me from very severe injuy - it absorbed energy and broke before my skull did. Went out and bought the same item when I started to ride again. It worked.

Comfortable, but hot

Got this to replace a helmet that was stolen along with my bike. I'm a daily commuter, so I picked this one because it was the best fit out of the ones I tried at a couple different local bike shops, and I wanted to get one so I could quickly get back to riding. It does fit well and is quite comfortable, but if you're doing more than a leisurely ride it really heats up in there. Granted, I did have it out pushing hard on a 50 mile ride when it was 95 degrees out and I really heat up when I exercise, but it's still hotter than other helmets I've had. And it does get hot even if the weather and the riding are not so extreme. It's especially fun because when you take it off after a hot ride, a nice little splash of sweat pools up right above your eyebrows at the front of the helmet. Makes you feel really cool to take that off and have sweat just pour out from the top of your head. REALLY cool. Anyhow, if you don't heat up much when you bike then I'd say it's a great helmet, but for me not so good.

Helmet is fine, plastic frame is weak and breaks

Plastic frame has these tiny plastic tabs that hold it together. Mine broke pretty quickly, it still worked but made it more difficult to put on and adjust. Finally added a few small zip ties, and this fixed it but pretty dissapointing for a relatively expensive helmet.

Pro level helmet at a great price

I just picked this up from the Santa Monica store. After doing extensive research online, I decided on this helmet. Giro helmets don't look as clunky on your head and their locking mechanism is fantastic. Lots of vents to keep your head cool. The matte black on mine is nice and subtle. At half the price of some of Giro's higher end helmets, I don't know why you would spend more, unless you're a weight weenie or don't like the colors offered... Great buy!

Better than my Bern!

Picked up the Savant to replace a Bern helmet I'd had for a few years. The Bern, while fine, retained a ton of heat, and didn't afford me an acceptable field of view on my new bike/new riding position. Looking for an upgrade, I headed into REI to try some on. I was a bit disappointed with the selection of helmets in my size at my local REI (Reading, MA), but found a few Giro helmets that fit. I was surprised to find that a Giro size LG fit (Bern was always XL). The Savant adjusts to a wider range of sizes and is lighter than the Bern. I would have preferred something lighter, but for the price the Savant was fine. I still think I'd like something with better airflow, but this is a significant upgrade from what I had.

Great Road Helmet

Great helmet overall. It's a little bit on the warm side in the summer but not too bad. Considering the price, it's a fairly nice helmet.

very hot

I live in Hilton Head SC. I found the this helmet did not have sufficient ventilation for the heat of summer. The fit was great but uncomfortable do to the heat trapped in the helmet.

Excellent value helmet

I have had several Giro helmets over the years and like the click adjust system. This was bought as a spare helmet for guests and for when I travel. It works fine. Good value.
