Rated 4 out of 5 by from So close... I really like the cottony finish to these pants. No swishy/shiny synthetic feel. Also like that the flaps on the pockets are structured and don't crumple up after washing. I just wish they fit a little better. I have fuller hips and thighs and a small waist, and am between a 10 and 12 in pants. I ordered one of each size to try. The 10 is perfect in the waist but a bit tight thru the seat. The 12 was comfy in the hip/thigh area, but I could pinch together a 2.5 inch gap at the back of the waist. I returned the 12, hoping the 10 would loosen up with wear. They do a little, but would be much more comfortable with just a little more hip room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cute and versatile I was sad that North Face discontinued my favorite convertible pants, but am so glad that I found these Kuhl Splash roll-up pants in my local REI. The fabric is soft and medium weight - heavy enough to have some body and light enough to be cool, especially when they are rolled. The cargo pockets are large enough for smartphones, but still lie close enough to the leg to not be bulky. I am 5' 6" and 140 pounds with very long legs - the size 10 fits fine and is plenty long, and even has some length to spare. I find myself reaching for these pants first! Mine are the reddish color, which goes with nearly everything. I'm very tempted to buy another color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally - The Perfect Pant These are the best everyday/hiking/camping/outdoor pants I have ever bought. I bought them in 2 colours in store and then had the other 2 colours shipped home to me because I was so happy with they way they fit and wear. I am 5' 3" and 108 lbs and I usually wear a size 4 but the size 2 is a perfect fit if not a little bit too long. I haven't tried to take them up but if it really bothered me I would. I like the fact that when the hem is buttoned up they are a good length as capris. They do stretch a bit after being worn all day but not enough for it to be a problem. I usually wear a belt with them in any case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love these pants These are the best hiking pants I've ever had. They're so light and comfortable, I just bought another pair. They're nice looking enough that I can wear them in town, not just on the trail. They fit well, neither binding nor baggy. The fabric feels natural and breathable, not plastic and clingy like some hiking pants. I would wholeheartedly recommend these to anyone who wants good three-season hiking pants, or just something to wear on summer evenings. They could be even more perfect if they came in short sizes -- I'm 5'2" and I find that the rolled-up state of the pants comes down to my ankles.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Please make these longer! I so wanted this pant to work for me. I tried it on in store, and I loved the material and the cut. The waist is a comfortable mid-rise, the pockets are well-placed, and the roll-up feature is perfect. The major con is that these pants are way too short! I'm 5'8", 135 pounds and although the size 8 fit, when rolled down the legs weren't long enough to cover my socks. I wanted these to work so badly that I tried going up to a 10 and even a 12, but they were still too short. When I checked the specs online I saw that the inseam is 30". In my opinion that's more of a petite length--the standard "regular" inseam is generally 32". Kuhl, please make these longer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kuhl Pants are the best! I bought these pants for a safari in Africa and loved them from the beginning. I'm shocked by some comments/reviews that these pants run big because they run small for me. I am 5'7" and 135 pounds and normally wear a size 8 but I had to buy a size 10 in these pants and they fit perfectly. I wear them for travel mainly because they can be washed out in the sink and usually will dry quickly when hung up to dry. They also are great if I need to send them to the hotel for cleaning. They do not need to be ironed and they look good all day long and I can even wear them more than one time before washing them. I did not know this brand until I purchased these pants on sale at REI and now I am a loyal customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from trust your normal size, not their chart These are indeed very cute, but too large. I'm 5'4", 125#, fairly muscular build but I do not have slim legs. I wear a size 4 in most pants (in REI brand, often a size 2), but I went with the size chart and tried a size 8. Terrible. So I sent them back and got a size 6. Still too large, but workable. I should have just stuck with my normal size 4. They're also rather long. I know the reviews say that they're too short, but maybe they've lengthened them? The size 6 is way too long, and currently I keep them rolled up with the snaps at the ankle. They aren't really made to be shortened, so we'll see how I deal with this issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pants I love these pants and wear them all the time. They fit well right after I wash and dry them, however, they become loose at the end of the day - I prefer my pants to be more form fitting. I normally wear size 4 pants (I'm 5'6" 127-130 lbs), but got these in size 6 in black which fit perfectly in the store (but size 6 in the green were way too big)...I can't remember if a 4 was available in the store to try on. I like the material and the style with pockets on back and sides. They do seem a tad on the long side. But overall I really like them.

I just bought two pairs of these pants for my wife in the same size. One has a draw string in the waist, the other does not. The tags show the same codes, etc. Are these supposed to have a draw string? Is the cut different between the two?

Asked by: kayakerpaul
When I tried on several pairs of the Kuhl Splash yesterday at REI, I noticed that the blue and the breen had the internal drawstring but the black did NOT. I checked other pairs on the rack, and that was true of all the ones in black. They didn't even have the necessary "channel" sewn into the waistband.

I am ordering a Kuhl Strattus Pant - Womens. What sort of color is  Breen please? It looks like some sort of Khaki - hard to see what it is from the pictures.

Asked by: UNRR
It's a very dark brownish  green (br = brown, een = green!) - not my favorite, it looks dull and muddy.  The Carbon is a really nice dark gray - I like it much better.

Can these be hemmed if they are too long?

Asked by: JaimieW
I took mine to the alterations shop in my nearby mall for hemming. They came out just fine. I just told them they didn't need to copy the 3 rows of stitching!. I've had 3 pairs shortened.

Are these appropriate for when it rains? I see there is a high percentage of cotton

Asked by: Dotti
The Splash Roll-Up pants will not be the best choice for keeping out the rain. They will however be quick to dry given the materials and Kuhl's Drypoint technology.

How big are the thighs?

Asked by: HaBo
Not true!!  I have a size 6 Splash Roll-up Pant, and 4" down from the crotch, the diameter of the leg is close to 11" across (flattened out on the bed). These fit me great! 9.5" would be too tight in the thigh for me. The bottom leg opening is closer to 9.5"... which might have been what they meant.
