Got these as a gift then did a test hike up Dog Mountain in the Columbia Gorge. These socks require some attention putting them on to make sure the internal layer sits smoothly but once on they fit well and felt really good. They take up slightly less volume in a hiking boot that than a standard liner sock/hiking sock and for that reason, and because they are well ventilated, seemed to wick heat a little better than the two sock method. I finished this tough one-half day hike with no hot spots, no blisters, and no foot or boot dampness. All in all a good, innovative product that works at least as well and costs less than the liner/hiking sock tandem.

Wrightsocks not what they used to be...

I bought 5 pairs of these socks in 2019 because my old ones were about 7 years old and GREAT. I washed them once and was saving them for a trip to Europe in the Spring. They pilled after one washing. They are NOT THE SAME QUALITY as before. I'll be returning them. The other reviews confirmed my suspicions that the quality control has waned. Too bad, used to love these socks.

No blisters!

I have been using these socks for over six months for some backpacking trips and training hikes. This is now the third pair that I have ordered because I wanted a different color. I wear these socks with a very heavy duty pair of hiking boots so they get plenty of hard wear. They hold up well. And I can truly say, that I have never gotten a blister. I am so glad that the REI Associate at the Encinitas store recommended these to me all those months ago. ( I had tried some thicker pairs of socks with a separate sock liner, but it just wasn't working because the material was too thick and kept bunching up in the toe.) ago.

Buying MORE of these! Excellent moisture wicking!

Okay, so I bought these on a "Oh, I dunno, I'll try these" for an Alaskan summer hiking trip. They worked well as a midweight, wicking sock with my Salomon hiking boots for light days. But I just went to Yosemite in late October and THIS is when these socks truly performed, wearing them with a quality Columbia trail shoe. I accidentally stuck my foot in a creek (full submersion), and thought I would have to change socks and shoes to stay dry (it was 30 F). Both my shoe and these SOCKS were totally dry in a half hour. I am not kidding. I am super impressed and buying more. Also, they dry out on a line fairly quick for camp laundry. I'm a fan.

Suprised by the Comfort

I was very skeptical to try these Wrightsocks for hiking as I have never been able to find a pair for distance running that I liked. However, they are very comfortable and will serve me well. Normally, my feet feel tight in my hiking boots at the end of a day, and usually are wet with sweat as well. This is the first pair of hiking socks that seem to have alleviated both problems. I believe I can finally ditch the sock liners and use these double-layer socks. If you are someone like me who seems to have freaky feet in that you're always fighting for a more comfortable solution, you may want to give these a try.

Best Sock Evr! Read review if you want to know why

Whether you are biking or hiking or just walking... These socks have been designed great! They are very comfortable and do not make your feet get soaked in sweat. I have mountain biked with these socks so many miles without any issues. Hours and hours of hiking and caving in Vietnamese jungle and caves in hot weather and crossing rivers 40+ times in a day, climbing up on temples in Siem Reap- Cambodia, long countryside and city walks in Thailand for weeks. No blisters guys! Just amazing! Get just one pair and you will see it yourself. I am ordering a few more pairs now :)

SALESPERSON TOLD ME THE TRUTH!!!

I bought two pairs of these socks for my trek in Utah's National Parks. The salesperson said that they would not smell even if I had to wear them for 2 or more days without washing, and that they would keep my feet cool, as well as wash and dry quickly. They were great - fit perfectly, definitely kept my feet cool in my hiking shoes, did not create any odor, and washed and dried quickly! I am well satisfied and recommend them highly! I even wore them for the long plane trips, both going and coming, from Philadelphia to Las Vegas and from Phoenix to Philadelphia, because the hiking boots took up too much room in my luggage!

Nice lightweight sock

I bougt 3 pairs of the Wrightsock Double Layer socks(one pair of these and two pair of the more cushioned double layer socks) for a 3 day hike. I wore these on the third day since it was the shortest distance. I had no visible blisters from the other pairs, but I think these gave me a very slight blister on my big toe. I don't know for sure if this was the fault of these specific socks, but just something I noticed. The only other issue I had after wearing these, was that the top of the sock seemed to be slightly too tight on my calf. Again, I don't know if this was just built up pressure over the 3 days. Overall they were mostly comfortable, and they stayed on my legs well.

I don't usually get excited about socks...

...but these are exceptional. Two thin layers add up to the thickness of a regular athletic sock, but with zero hot spots. I recently wore these backpacking through five miles of wet fields in non-waterproof shoes. Before getting in my sleeping bag, I was planning to switch into dry socks. When I took off my shoes, though, my socks were still totally dry. The wicking is amazing. When running, I normally use super thin nylon socks. Yesterday, for a nine-mile trail run in three inches of snow, I chose to wear these for a little extra warmth. I didn't regret it. They don't get soupy or floppy like socks of this thickness usually do.

Disappointing, quality has shifted for the worse

I've had one pair of Wrightsocks for probably 10 years and they look and feel little more worn than when they were new. These new versions are not good quality. The inner liner and outer seem to be really different in sizing in a way that causes a lot of bunching in the liner and leads to blisters. The outer layer wore down quickly, but not quite quickly enough for an REI return - they lasted just over a year before getting a hole in the heel. I wore them with the same shoes and insoles as the older pair of Wrightsocks I still have in rotation, so it's not an issue with other footwear. I won't be buying another pair of these double layer style Wrightsocks. Bummed to have yet another formerly great brand bite the dust.
