Excellent for Soft Soil
Excellent pegs for sandy beaches or other places with very loose soil that smaller pegs will not hold in. Don't try to use it in soil it isn't designed for and it will last forever. I've used them with my semi-free standing one person backpacking tent, and my 3 person tent without any problems.

Nice and light, broke half of them first time out
These are nice and light, but I broke half of them (used a rock as a hammer) on the first outing staking them into dry hard packed dirt at a campground (no roots / rocks etc). They break near the head where the plastic is thinner. Hitting them straight is the key I found, but they are not reliable enough for me even with a proper hammer and technique. I will be sticking to metal ones in the future.

Dual Use Stakes

Bought these to replace the lost and broken tent stakes. They go into the ground well and the head is wide enough for my plastic mallet to not get deformed when smashing them into the ground. They hold on good in the ground so well that I used the small round hole in the stake and put 550 paracord (also from REI) through it with a loop to be able to pull them out with force. I drive these into the ground till about 1 inch to half inch stickng out of the ground. In another use, I used them for my Christmas inflatable decorations vs the weak green ones you get. Easily findable since they are yellow and work amazingly.

Great all-purpose stake

Very light works well in sandy soil and even compacted snow.

Solid, durable

These stakes are great for instances where there are fairly loose conditions - sand, grass, packed snow. I've beat on them with mallets and rocks and they've withstood both. They are bulky but anchor well.

Tent stakes

These stakes are brittle and break easily, especially at the head.

Coghlan's ABS Tent Peg - 9

It really becomes windy in northern/central AZ during from October on! One needs the extra length of this peg to keep both the fly & tent fully secured. I now use these stakes on a regular basis in lieu of smaller, light weight ones.

Worth the price

What can you say about a 99 cent tent peg? It seems to hold well and didn't break when I pounded it into hard clay. We'll see if it holds a guy wire for a fence through a Minnesota winter!

Old Mojave Road sand

Just took a bunch on the Old Mojave Road. With varying terrain, they were just what my tent needed for each of the 3 nights. They’ll go next time too!
