quality cup!

when i saw how well the kleen kanteen steel pints lasted on my last trip to AFG, i had to try this stylish ditty! the older i get, the more i want finer products. but those products have to endure what i do for a living - i deploy around the world to some rather austere places. there are just some things that don't survive deployments. average coffee mugs, ceramic items, and glass fit that bill. while the kleen kanteen steel pints can certainly hold whatever you want to drink out of them, this GSI number seems to add a bit of charm and class to my beverage consumption. if you like this item, you'll also like the snow peak travel chopsticks - another item that is expensive but worth the price. although if you compare the price of this cup to the kk cups, it's about double the price. not sure why. for the retail price at rei, you'd think this item is titanium.

Too Classy for Just Camping

I purchased two to carry in my snack bag when I travel; but I'm seriously considering buying more to use at home. Given the number of wine glasses that get broken in the course of a year at our house, I think these are a classier, safer alternative and over the long haul, they'll be much more economical.

Nifty little glass!

This is very nifty. I already use a double-walled Klean Kanteen for hot things, but I wanted a simple cup that is easy to clean, nests inside my DIY woodgas stove, and can be used for beverages other than water and tea that I might not want stinking up my water bottle (ie, booze.) This thing fits the bill. I'm not a big wine drinker (it's good but not really my style) but it works great for whiskey and other spirits. I'm sure it'd work well for other beverages too. It doesn't impart any metallic flavors. One thing I noticed: on the outside, it has a brushed texture, but on the inside, it seems to be anodized (rough texture, not polished.) I'm not sure if this has something to do with preventing metallic flavors but if so it works. Being a wine glass, it's also sort of snifter-shaped, so it collects aromatic vapors from your drinks pretty well to enhance your experience. My only complaint: I wish there was a titanium version! I'd be willing to pay a little more for it. It's really not that heavy though, and it does seem pretty stainless, so as long as you let it dry between uses it should stay rust-free for a very long time. A good piece of kit! It's coming to Burning Man with me.

Awesome little wine glass

Took this camping with me over the weekend and just loved this glass. I was surprised to find that it fit into the cup folder on a standard camp chair.

Great Addition to My Camp Wine Collection

As part of my camping trips, I like to enjoy wine in the evening. I have tried different wine "glasses". First, stems in campsite don't work. Neither does glass. Acrylic wineglasses change the taste and temperature of the wine. And ALL wineglasses have tipped over. I knew that GSI Outdoors would make a good wineglass. I have other products of theirs. This wineglass is quite well made. Very strong and sturdy. The glass will lean over if I position it to do so, and it will stay in the leaned position. It will stay flat on its bottom regardless. You physically have to shove the glass with your hand to make it tip over. There is a coating of some kind inside the wineglass. It doesn't change the taste of the wine. Perhaps that is on purpose and it is a good idea. The wineglass is stylish and easy to clean.

Great for Backpack and Hot-Tub

I bought two of these for backpacking/hiking. I enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a day of hiking and these are perfect. Light-weight and easy to fit into a pack. Decided they would also be great for using in our hot tub instead of plastic. Only drawback is the lip is really thin, so is a little odd to drink from compared to glass.

Not just limited to Vino

Heard their siren song singing to us in Folsom, CA a couple years ago. Love at first knock-off-the-table. The only place they don't go is thru TSA at the airport. After using at home, RVing, and on the trail, we are back for a permanent pair for the trailer. Agree w/ posters for the clear polly version- they bring a smile.

a great backcountry wine glass

This wine glass is well shaped and very sturdy. I have taken it on many backpacking and camping trips when trying to fancy up my back-country life. It is very well suited to use in the outdoors as it is quiet spill resistant due to its wide base, as well as very sturdy so it won't break or dent except under extreme conditions.

Durable for driveway drinking.

Bought for my wife as part of her 30 yr anniversary presents...great for driveway and back patio parties. Can drop (after a bit much of the vino) and it doesn't shatter like wine glasses.
