Great dual-use item!

After using a t-shirt stuffed with clothes as a pillow on previous trips, I bought the smaller version of this sack/pillow. Well worth it. I went small, because unless you have a lot of clothes, a smaller bag is easier to fill to a good head height. If you are on a long trip with lots of clothes and prefer a big pillow, go for it. During the day, this sack carried my clean clothes. At night, I pulled the fleece side out and put the clothes back in for use as a pillow. Very comfortable. Here is a helpful tip: as my trip continued, my clean clothing turned into dirty. I then added a roll-top stuff sack (dry bag) to hold the dirty stuff. I'd roll the bag top to seal it, without compressing the bag to push the air out. This then went into my pillow, along with any remaining clean clothes. The dry bag acted as an air pillow to add volume to the pillow, but there was still some clean clothing in the mix to provide comfort. I certainly recommend this item!

Excellent product.

After improvising a pillow out of jackets or shirts for what seems like forever, this is such an improvement over that for a variety of reasons. It's a dual use item which means less chance of being left at home on your next trip. The REI stuff sack pillow does a great job at both of its tasks: as a stuff sack it feels solid and the cord/tightener are easy to use and when being used as a pillow I found it extremely comfortable when filled 2/3 full. The soft material feels good when resting your face on it. It's a durable combo, isn't terribly heavy, and is dirt cheap. I went with the smaller 15L size and I found it large enough to really pack in a lot of clothing (wool sweater, gloves, knit hat, two pairs of wool socks, two pairs of underwear, and a few tshirts). Highly recommend and wish I had found it sooner.

Solves a Couple Problems

I have a big down coat I like to bring camping just in case, but it takes up a ton of room to pack. I've never found a travel pillow I like. This sack solves both problems. I can pack away my massive down coat and also have a decent pillow at night. (+) pretty comfortable! seems durable (-) I wish it came in more sizes. The orange one, (excuse me, "French Poppy"), is too big for a jacket. Maybe I need 10L. Also, I wish there were a couple color options. Got one for my old lady too and we couldn't tell them apart at a glance. Had to pick one up and look inside.

LOVED this stuff sack

LOVED this pillow/stuff sack. I took it on a trip to Israel and Jordan. It let me sleep comfortably on the plane (I used my jacket as filling). And in hotels where the pillows were not clean, not comfortable, or both, it was a lifesaver. The only con is that the fleece might not be as great in hot weather. This wasn't an issue on this trip, though, as it was the start of the winter season.

Comfortable sleep

It was actually comfortable to sleep on this one! It was thick enough that I could sleep on my side and not feel my hip dig into the hard ground. It's narrow and that's always a bit uncomfortable for me, but for 2-3 nights I can deal with it. It was a little hard to inflate, it's not self inflating, and the "foot pump" was slow. I used my hands on the pump though, and blew a few times which made the process much faster. It was easy to remove the air, after pressing out most of the air, I just folded it back into the creases from before and rolled it together. The size and weight is also great.

Very cozy

I used to carry a camping pillow with me, but hated the fact that it took up so much room and weight in my pack. I am a minimalist when hiking/camping, but I still like to be comfortable when I sleep; so I was willing to make sacrifices to carry a pillow. This sack has replaced the pillow and is even better. The fleece liner is great and the satin lining on the bottom was a nice touch. I am a big fan of things I take camping having multiple purposes and this fits that bill. I am buying one for all my camping friends as gifts.

great multipurpose stuff sack

it's a stuff sack. it's a pillow. two birds, one stone...BOOM! it's not just a clever nickname. it's got a draw string and a handle strap on the bottom. it's not water proof and it won't cure disease but that's not why i bought it. great straightforward product that's useful to have as part of your gear.

You need a pillow

I used to carry a travel pillow when backpacking. I got this on a whim and am glad I did. Useful for packing clothes and comfortable and warm as a pillow at night. If I had to take 3 pieces of gear on a trip, this would be one (pocket rocket and air rail pad would be the other two).

Great Pillow for my Hennessy Hammock

After many uncomfortable pillow attempts, I finally founds my pillow that also doubles as my sleeping bag stuff sack. I'm constantly amazed that no one else seems to have one of these. Stuff your fleece, extra socks and shirt inside this and it works like a charm.

Works Like A Charm!

I am an adult male side sleeper, so I need a lot of height and firmness to my pillow to be comfortable and stay asleep. This sack, when stuffed, is exactly the right size for me. When car camping, I jam 2 large Therma Rest compressible pillows into this sack. When hiking, I simply cram lots of clothes into the sack. Either way, it works great. Even got one for my wife, who usually only wants to use a home pillow. She likes it, too. Much, much better than "just" a Therma Rest pillow.
