Rated 4 out of 5 by from My favorite camp chair. I bought this camp chair when I was going to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico five years ago. i didn't think that i was going to need it and I probably didn't but it was a very nice addition to my system, it made sitting anywhere enjoyable. it was not hard to pack i just laid it on top of my backpack under the brain so it was easy to access during breaks. i also used it under my sleeping pad just to be another layer from the rocks and my friend just used it as his sleeping pad (but i would not recommend that). this pad also is great in the winter to protect you from getting wet and cold sting in the snow since the foam won't absorb water ever since I have brought it on all of my campouts's track meets, cross country meets, and anywhere i might have to sit on the ground.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great chair with one glaring problem This is a useful product that fails too quickly. The back braces on either side of the chair rather rapidly poke through the un-reinforced cloth at the top. This could be rectified by the manufacturer at minimal expense. I'm now on my third version of the chair. I like it, but I've started reinforcing the top with duct tape to add life by slowing down the break through of the supports. Once they've broken through, the chair is unusable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice light seat with extra padding Great for the money. Used it at concerts and lawn seating events. Adds great support to your back when sitting on grass. I also bought the one without the extra pad and pocket in the back. I like the one with the extra pad and pocket better for some extra butt padding and the storage area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi functional family favorite! Shortly after purchasing one of these for myself, I had to get one for each of my kids as they were constantly fighting over whose turn is was to steal it from me. This take on the classic camp chair is as good as ever, but with the extra flap that protects calves from dirt, rocks, and BUGS, and can create a different position and feel for sitting and reclining. Unhook the sides and this chair becomes a sleeping mat for kids, and extra ground layer for under your sleeping pad, a clean surface for your camp tools or dishes, or a place to play a fireside game of cards. Also handy as a ground pad for getting under your broken-down car, or as a seat pad when your car seats are wet because you left the windows down! My kids have created personal sun-awnings and body-armor for stick-battles; the possibilities are apparently endless. Slides easily down the inside of your backpack, or hooks onto the outside. Perfect alternative to bulkier camp chairs when you are packing a lot of stuff into a little car. Lays easily in the bottom of your trunk so you are never without a seat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy I've had this chair for 5 years and use it regularly and haven't experienced the other wear issues that some have mentioned. I teach and this chair is incredibly comfortable to use in the classroom when I have to sit on the floor with students; it provides lots of extra support. The long pad is also handy for camping and backpacking--it makes a decent sleeping pad when stretched out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ok for short term use I bought this REI chair 3 years ago, because my crazy creek disappeared after 10 years of solid use. At first it seemed fine, the low price, the pocket and the extra length. Recently it started falling apart due to lack of reinforcement at the top; the staves go right through, but I was told it's too late to return. I'll buy a crazy creek warranted for life to replace it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Comfy, but broke one on second use I borrowed my friend's brand new camp chair and when I went to fold it up again it wouldnt close. THe Fiberglass Stay had shifted somehow and while it is still usable, it wont fold up for storage. Im replacing hers and buying a different brand for myself. I love the concept of the chair, adjusts easily, lightweight, and fits in the car easily. I just wish it hadnt broken while being used the proper way (It was on loan so I treat those items with the utmost respect). I recomend a more quality chair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Back support rules I couldn't be more happy with this purchase. I have 2 others that I bought a few years ago and they are holding up well. Great for relaxing at concerts, parks, camping. Basically a fantastic alternative when the only option is sitting on the ground. Great back support if you'll be sitting for a long time without anything to lean on! THUMBS UP!!!

Does the chair's cushion material have any insulation value?

Asked by: Roper
The Trail Chair will not have a specific R-Value like you find on an insulated sleeping pads. The 1.2cm thick closed cell foam inside the chair will provide some insulating capabilities.
