Nice addition to my day pack
I got the S/M size for my Sundowner LR 22 pack. It fits fine but is at the limit. I don't even need to cinch up the drawstring. Anything larger and you would want the larger size. If I were to really stuff my pack to the max I might want the larger one but I don't expect to do that. I tried it on my sons Trailblazer 15 pack and it worked nicely on his too. I cinched it up quite a bit to get it to stay so that feature works well. It seems pretty durable, just as good as the other brands or better. I like the strap that holds it in place at the top. The way it fits on my pack I probably would be ok without it but my son's pack definitely needs it. It folds up pretty small and I can fit it in the side pocket with room to spare. It also fits in the pocket on the belt. I haven't had to use it yet but may venture out on a rainy day just to try it out. At least now I don't worry about my supplies getting damaged if I got caught in the rain.
Great for Osprey Talon 22
This is a great alternative to the Osprey raincover... much cheaper and high visibility yellow (which is what I wanted since I would be using this while bike commuting. Fits the Talon 22 pack well. I seem to be installing it a little differently. I route the black velcro strap of the cover along the back panel of my pack underneath the shoulder straps, through the grey loop cord, and then velcro the strap back onto itself. Then cinch the toggle at the bottom to secure the cover.
Water-Tight Cover
I bought this for a 2010 Camelbak Cloudwalker that I use for day hiking. The first time I tried this, I was biking after a hard drenching rain. Getting it on my backpack was not difficult. The outside got some minor mud stripes that came off easily. However, my bag and the inside of the cover had a lots of moisture on them. The second time I tried it was was a month later on a night hike; I used it for the visibility. After 2 hours, the outside was dry (it was a clear night), but again, my bag and inside the cover were quite wet. I realized that I was sweating through my fleece jacket and cotton shirts, and it was condensing on the inside of the cover because it is so water tight. To solve this problem, I had to wear a waterproof shell to prevent moisture from my sweat from condensing on the inside of the cover. I feel this is a great product at a reasonable price. It folds up flat and weighs almost nothing. I just had to learn how to use it properly.
This product is easy to use
I almost didn't buy this product, because so many reviewers said they couldn't figure out how to use it, but I was tired of my backpack getting soaked on the walk to/from work. All you have to do is thread the black strap between the shoulder straps and the back panel and then through the elastic loop to secure it at the top.
Good pack cover at a great price
Bought this because I needed a small pack cover to keep my Flash 18 day pack dry while biking around Seattle (you can guess why a water proof cover would be useful!). This was the best size for a small day pack and was only $10 vs $30 for other pack covers. It's worked great so far, even when my little pack isn't filled. The only not positive comment I have is that the velcro strap is confusing (maybe it was intended for something on an actual Camelbak).
Good visibility and rain protection
I use this rain cover during my commute, walking a few miles each day in an urban environment. I chose this cover because it’s slightly less expensive than similar items, but I really like the design. The color gives good visibility in low light/cloudy conditions. It stays put with the Velcro and loop closure plus the cinched cord around the outside. I ended up sizing up to the larger size to cover my Osprey Flash 22, which I always overstuff (if you pack it normally, the smaller size will work). Very satisfied and would buy again!
Great Item for a low cost
This is a great rain cover. The smallest size fits by Thule laptop backpack and then some. It is rated to fit up to a 1200 cu in. bag or something like that so it fits just right. There is a velcro strap at the top for you to strap to the top handle of any pack. The trick for getting it to stay on properly is to really cinch down on the drawstring at the bottom. It was able to handle keeping my bag dry during a pretty heavy rain for a few minutes. I dare not test it further just because it is not waterproof just very water resistant. I would say it could keep a camelbak or similar pack dry for a few hours in steady rain but it is not built to handle more than that, which is fine for me. If you are looking for a Seattle proof type rain cover I would look into the higher end versions of REI's rain covers, but if you need soemthing for your commute or a half day hike this could do the trick just fine.
Did the trick
Kept my pack dry on the Inca Trail. It rains frequently and is very misty for the 2nd day and nothing inside was damp.
Does it's job
Purchased this for commuting/hiking. Works great. Used it on a trip to the Redwood National Forest. I wasn't a big fan of using the hydration tube as a stay, so I attached a small cheap carabiner onto the loop to attach to the bag. Works great!
Fantastic Rain Cover
Got this cover for cycling in the rain. Ended up taking it skiing in Austria and it kept everything dry, even in powder. Fits most backpacks and dries super quick.
