Sizing Notes

Please note, this sizing chart is meant to serve only as a guideline.

Sizing downhill poles: Stand in your ski boots on a level floor. With your poles upside down—grips touching the floor—grab the pole beneath the basket so that the top of your thumb touches the basket. Your elbow should now be at a 90-degree angle. If the angle is less than 90 degrees, get a shorter pole. If the angle is greater, get a longer pole.

Sizing XC poles: Stand in your XC ski boots on a level floor. Place the pole tips on the floor next to your feet. The top of the grips should reach your arm pits.

Sizing skate poles: Stand in your skate boots on a level floor. Place pole tips on the ground with the pole shafts perpendicular to the floor. The poles should reach from the ground up to a point somewhere between your chin and your lips.

Great every day poles

Awesome poles. My entire family uses some iteration of the Traverse Pole. They last a long time, showing minimal wear. Barring user inflicted damage from misuse or a crash. Happy with the purchase.

Solid option; 100 cm minimum length

Feels good, sturdy, with a solid adjustment mechanism that can be changed with gloves on. NOTE: The shorter version's adjustment range is listed by Black Diamond as 100-140 cm. REI's description lists the range as 90-140 cm (and perhaps you can lock the collar 5 cm below the lowest shown increment?), so if you're looking for a pole for a growing skier who still needs a sub-100 cm pole, consider that you may need to exchange it.

No frills just good

I wanted a no frills touring pole. Aluminum, comfortable in the hand with or without gloves. Has an easy way to adjust poles with gloves on. Mechanism seems pretty durable as well. If you want a no frills touring pole that wont cost you an arm and a leg, I cant recommend this enough.

Big upgrade on my old Ski Poles

I don't think I've upgraded my touring poles in 15 years. These are much sturdier and a touch longer as I'm on the taller side. Would recommend.
