Feel very plastic
I’ve been wearing flat shoes for a while now, and overall, VIVOBarefoot does deliver on that natural, grounded feel. They’re truly flat, allowing for a more connected experience with the ground. However, it’s important to transition into them gradually—jumping in too quickly can lead to discomfort or even injury. That said, my biggest issue with these shoes is the ankle area. When tying the laces, it feels like there’s a stiff plastic-like material hugging my ankles, which makes them uncomfortable compared to other barefoot shoes that use more flexible fabric. Another thing to note is the design. While they function well as minimalist shoes, the front is quite wide, almost giving off a clown shoe look—kind of like Ronald McDonald’s shoes but in a more neutral color. If you don’t mind that aesthetic and are looking for true barefoot shoes, they might be worth considering. Overall, they work as intended, but the ankle comfort and bulky front design are drawbacks for me.
An aquired taste, but now I love them!
Love these shoes! I messed around with many different shoes to relieve foot pain, and finally got so fed up with all the different sole shapes that I went with barefoot shoes. My pain is gone, and my feet finally feel like they can spread out and breathe. It feels so claustrophobic to wear normal shoes now! When I first tried them on, they felt sloppy and wide, and I almost returned them. But over time as I broke them in, it almost seemed like my feet relaxed and spread out to fill the space. Now I love them— the Motus Strength is sock-like, but with a flexible outer sole and plenty of room in the toe box to move around. It almost feels like wearing moccasins. I love them for the gym, around the house, and around town. I still find them difficult to run in, or if it is very cold out— there isn’t much between there your feet and the earth. I now have bought a second pair for work, and I’m totally sold. If you decide to give them a try, give them a good few weeks of wearing them before deciding if they are for you. Chances are at first you won’t love them, but give them some time, and I think it will be hard to go back.
