Improved Cushioning for Lovers of the Ridges

The Newton Peaks fit like the Newton Ridge but have superior cushioning on the heel and mid-foot. For those who like the Ridges but feel like they have too hard of a sole, I recommend trying the Peaks. Same sizing as the Newton Ridge, which means sizing runs true overall. For general thoughts - not merely comparing to the Ridges - the Columbia Peaks over excellent ankle support, a wide toe area, and waterproofing. While I have never fully tried submerging my foot, I can attest that these keep your feet dry through puddles and downpours. Great traction as well - I've used these soles on everything from slickrock covered in sand to muddy wet downhills and have never felt unconfident in the grip. These are not lightweight but also not super heavy. I find them comparable in weight to wearing a heavy-duty trail runner. Overall, I love these hikers. If you want a great all around option, this is the best bang for your buck.

My friend and I both picked up some new hiking footwear to head out on the trails and these didn't make my feet hurt at all. I'm shocked at the comfort, you can tell from the moment you put them on and after walking for nearly 5 miles in them I didn't have any foot pain. A plus is I got to watch how the water rolled off my shoe, it was very satisfying. I can recommend :)
