I have found Outdoor Research generally to be second-to-none when it comes to quality control. Yet after buying 4 different types of pants over a 10 year period I constantly run into the same issue. The right-leg outside seams and the left-leg inside seams curve toward the front of the pant on all my OR pants. Almost like the seams spiral counter-clockwise as you travel from the hip to the toe. When I look down at where the bottom of each leg touches my shoes the seams are almost in the middle of my shoe laces, instead of on the outside/inside of my leg. It affects movement too, as it feels like the bottoms of the pant-legs are twisted. At first I thought it was just my body-type so I had my same-size friend try them on and sure enough, same thing. You can also clearly notice this by laying them flat on the floor. Whenever I put my pants on I'll try and twist the bottom of each pant-leg clockwise so the seams are where they should be, but after a few movements they inevitably shift back towards the front. Other than the seam issue, all of the pants are incredibly durable and fit great. The Goldbar has the perfect amount of stretch and I like the leg cut. I have an athletic build and these pants conform to my legs without being "skinny-style" and offer enough leg opening to fit over hiking boots.
Hello, I love OR but the fabric used for these pants do not meet OR's normal quality standard. Warn and washed just twice, I noticed disintegrating fabric and holes at both the front and back of the pant. Very poor quality cotton. The design of the pants is otherwise good.
Am really enjoying these pants about 5 months in. Looks great dressed up or down, surprisingly mobile for the snug fit. It'd be nice if they had some smaller weight size increments, I had to hop to hop down one inch from what I usually do (31"), but it's luckily working out. The tag/label on the back along the beltline is pretty poor material though, it'll get chewed up in the dryer or with some kind of friction. Again, it's luckily working out as I don't really mind, but if you're tucking in your shirt to be dressy it'll show and at that point you mine as well rip the whole thing off, or OR just doesn't need to bother putting it on there if its not durable.
I just bought these I trued them on and they feel great If anyone is wondering what the material is like they feel just like work Carhart pants. Which is what I was hoping for in material for rugged work and out in the woods. My only complaint about these pants is they are not offered in shorter length. I take a length of 30 inch and I am pretty sure these are a 34. Unfortunately Have to get them shortened. I know I just purchases this but after I get them shortened I am sure they will be up to my expectations. OR please make them in shorter lengths I am sure these will be a favourite among other people also.
I have been wearing these pants for over two years now, and they have been some of my go to pants when I have the options. They went well with my uniform when I worked at Cabela's and would be comfortable the whole shift. I wear them still when I need to look good for work at my current job. My only issue is, I have now worn them enough to start wearing portions of them thin, mainly around the crotch area and just below the belt line on the rear. The belt loops are starting to let loose a little too. But that just means they've been well loved.
I love these pants! I wore them for the first week, the entire week. I like that they have a change pocket because I like to use it for a pocket knife. I like that they are stretchy and rugged. Fit is slightly longer and slightly larger on the waist than most pants the same size, but they work perfectly for me :) I would compare them to the OR Grand Ridge Pant but prefer the Goldbar pant because of the slightly larger fit, the slightly stretchier feel and the change pocket that is absent on the Grand Ridge.
These have become my go-to everyday pair. Durable, they've stood up to yard work, mechanic work, and all chores in between. They hold up alongside my duluth and carhartt pants any day, but with much more comfort. Comfort is the biggest appeal, I can wear them while climbing all over and not feel any binds or chaffing. They might run a little hot, being denim, but up to about 75 degrees they felt comfy. Last point is style, they look good, they feel good. I'm 5'8 170lbs for reference.
In other OR pants that measure both a waist and an inseam I wear a 30x32. These pant legs are about 4 inches too long. I'll need to hem them to make them wearable and the hemming will eliminate all of the reinforcement area on the heal. If you own a sewing machine and like the price then buy these. If you still live in 2004 when it was cool to have your pant legs drag on the ground under your shoes then buy these. If you want a pant that you can simply wear then buy something else.
These are fantastic pants and fit so many occasions while still being surprisingly flexible and movement-friendly. Really nice to mix up my OR collection with more textures. A couple small qualms. I had to go to 30 waist because the next up was too big, but that was just a big snug, yet still doable. Bummed they don't have more incremental sizes in the low 30's. Second, this material is great but if you wear it while sitting down for a day at the office, you can expect the backs of the knees to get real wrinkly. Even if I don't mind wrinkles on a given day, I find the texture of the pants make wrinkles more intense, which I find annoying and hard to ignore. This makes for a high maintenance pant, since even when they don't need to be washed, they may need ironing. Overall still glad to have 'em, will need to be a bit selective on wearing them is all.
Great pants! Bought them for cooler temps and they worked excellent when hiking through waist deep snow drifts in UT winter. My only two concerns are a) they advertise a DWT coating and it's been worthless. Water instantly soaks into material and CS didn't help when contacted. B) legs run long on this model. 31 would have been perfect when I'm usually a 32. I still like the pants enough to keep them. Solid cool weather option.
