Great for cold winters!
This is a reliable down hoodie for cold Minnesota winters! I wear this when it is colder than 35 degrees Fahrenheit. I got this after I grew out of my Patagonia Down Sweater Hoodie and it performs just as well. It blocks the wind and I never feel too cold in it. I appreciate the longer coverage on the back which keeps my behind warm. I also like the chest zipper pocket for my phone. I've had this for a couple seasons now and I haven't noticed any loss of the down fill. I'm 5'10" 155 lbs and a medium fits well. I wear a medium in most of my other tops and jackets. I do find that the sleeves fit slightly long for me and they bunch up when I wear gloves.
Nice Jacket but a Few Things to Know
Warm, light weight, and looks good. I have read other reviews saying it fits snug. I am normally between a medium and large at 5'11" 180lbs, so ordered this in a large. It is a little big on me and I probably could have went with the medium, so I would say it fits true to size. It still works well as a midlayer under a shell. There are some differences in this jacket than others in the category. 1.) There are no google packets inside. This means there is no pocket you can pack it in, so you need an extra stuff sack which it did not come with. I use internal pockets a lot, so I knocked a star for this omission. 2.) It is a few inches longer than most other light down jackets and similar in length to a ski jacket. This can be good for warmth, but might not be the look your after, especially when layering. 3.) The zipper is reversed from normal US market jackets. My men's has a the zipper on the left side like a women's or some European jackets. Functionally fine, but all my other jackets are on the other side (I am in the US), so it takes some getting used to.
Want to like it but fit is a bit strange
I want to love this jacket, but I find the fit at the armpits a bit too tight so I'll be returning mine. It feels like the stitching is right up against my armpit when I wear this coat. I have another Rab jacket (different style) in the same size (Med) that doesn't have this issue so I assume it's just the way this is constructed. I want to keep it as it'd be great to have a lighter weight Rab jacket but unfortunately I wouldn't wear it due to the awkward fit.
