I love that I got one of the 45th Anniversary Half Dome tents. I purchased it as a multipurpose tent that can go on short backpacking trips or car camping. The colors are great, and the special logo makes it a collector's item! The size is just right for me. It would be a bit snug if we added another person or pup. It was an intuitive set-up, and very easy to assemble, and it included the footprint. I also loved that 20% of the cost would be donated to National Parks!
Haven’t used it yet but love the colors ! Going to use it next month. (July)
The “Anniversary” edition is better than the original.
I have had this tent for 4 years but hadn't tested it in more extreme mountain weather until this summer. I was pleasantly surprised to see how it handled two BIG thunderstorms in high mountains, complete with strong downdrafts (poles flexed well), heavy rain, and penny-size hail (piled up on margin of fly but no leaks around the base). The only leaks are annoying drips from where the small tabs of semi-rigid velcro, used for raising the rain fly for venting, touch the mesh roof when the vents are closed during the storms. Steady slow drips result. Next storm I'll try duct-taping them to the fly, see if that prevents the drip. Or they could redesign the tabs so there's a bit of velcro or some such on the fly that would do the same thing as duct tape.
Please make a the 2+ again! I was the quartermaster for my troop for 6 years. Every scout wanted the extra inches.
