Despite reading the reviews that eluded to the level of difficulty to set up, I purchased this tent along with the vestibule. I did a test run in my backyard and I was able to "easily" set this up in about 25 min. That included stopping to read directions and I think it will go up easier now that I know how Agnes works. *** Update: the second set up of Big Agnes was easy. Staking in the four corners is the key to success in doing this alone. Agnes and I had an amazing weekend escape in VT with temps down to 45 degrees overnight and with the right sleeping bag, I was cozy!
Great tent. I wanted a tent so my partner and I could camp with our 45 lb. dog and 7 lb. cat. This takes two people to set up, but has ample space for all of us (could have fit 3 people + 1 dog). It did get blown by wind when all it contained were sleeping pads and sleeping bags, so definitely be sure to stake it down or leave some heavy backpacks inside if you hike out.
I wanted to love this tent but the poor quality zippers wouldn't let me, hence the 4 star rating. What I do like about it is that it's big enough for me (5'-6") to stand up inside, very roomy, good airflow through the screen doors. Best of all, I can set it up by myself. It's first use was a camping trip to Michigan's upper peninsula, to a rustic campground on the shores of Lake Superior. Temps ranged from high 70's during the day and low 40's at night. Allowing the screen doors to ventilate, I had no condensation in the tent and was cozy in my sleeping bag. But the sticking zippers over shadowed all the good things about the tent. The zippers stuck and caught on the fabric, I could not get the zippers to fully close at the bottom corner. There is a flap to cover the bottom corner where the zippers wont come together but it still leaves a gap. Sticking zippers make it very hard to quickly exit the tent, especially in the middle of the night when you have to use the bathroom! Over all I like the tent and will keep it. I'm going to try rubbing bar soap on the zippers, hopefully that helps. I expected better quality from Big Agnes.
