HOW TO MEASURE:
Neck: Around the fullest part of the neck, at the base.
Chest: Around the chest, just under the arms and across the shoulder blades.
Sleeve: From the center back of the neck, across the shoulder, and down the arm to the wrist.
Waist: Around the narrowest part of the waist.
Hip: Around the widest point of the hips.
Inseam: From the crotch to the anklebone on the inside of the leg.

Nice, and returning.
Great staple shorts--love the stretchy cotton fabric, gusset. However, will return because my usual size 2 fits a little tight across my 35" hips so maybe a little small. For shorts in hot weather, I also would prefer a lighter gray color. Otherwise, great shorts!
Sizing insanely small
Size up 2-3 sizes. Or don’t have a booty and hips. I have a different pair of BD shorts in a L, they fit great. This size 12 felt like an 8.
Order 1 size up from what the chart says...
Size up. I ordered a 6 because I followed the chart but they were too small. Fabric is thin, lightweight, hit top of my knee (5'2").
