My new favorite for adventure & travel

These pants are awesome! Lightweight, breathable, and so far I've been unable to rip them despite sliding down rocks. They are outstanding for hiking and have a large zippered side pocket that easily fits my phone, a back zippered pocket for my keys, ID and $, and another back pocket and 2 front pockets without zippers. On top of all these features, they look great. Even though they are convertible to shorts, they look good enough to wear to dinner at a nice restaurant (when they are clean, of course; -) making them the perfect pants for travel as well. And so comfortable you can climb boulders in them as well as wear them on that long haul flight.

Sizing Difficult but Overall Good Pants

I am 5'6, 155 lb and ordered a size 6 originally but it was just a bit too tight in the hip and thigh, which surprised me as size 6 typically works across a variety of brands. I returned the 6 and ordered size 8. The hip area was looser but the thigh area, especially where the zip-off is is still skin tight. The material is definitely stretchy so the tightness is not uncomfortable but just strange that this aspect did not change when upgrading a size. Despite struggling to figure out sizing, I am impressed by the material, the softness, the soft waistband to prevent rub, the stretch and overall look of the pants.

Great pants, fit a tad small

Great & durable - had a previous pair of OR pants (different line, nice and stretchy) which was a size 6, so I started off with a 6 and it was quite a bit too small and not as much stretch. Went up to an 8 and still not quite right despite using their measurements, so maybe order a size up. That being said, using them on the trail hiking for 8-10 hours, they were still super comfortable. Unexpected bonus: hiking the Mantario trail with WAY too many ticks...well, the convertable zipper area traps the gross things.

Wanted to love these

Wanted to love these as much as the rest of the Ferrosi collection but the area where the pants zip off into shorts is very uncomfortable. it digs in uncomfortably in this area and pinches the skin. It feels like they haven't accommodated for this transition smoothly and added some more width in this area, instead they taper in significantly. I had to ultimately return them, ill stick with buying either the Ferrosi pants which are my fav or the shorts in the collection! This isn't the 2 in 1 I was hoping for :(

Back to square 1 re: convertible hiking pants

I love the regular Ferrosi pants, but the convertible kind -- like most convertible pants -- left a lot to be desired. The zip hit at a weird spot so bending or squatting didn't feel great. I also have yet to find a pair of convertibles that a shorter inseam for the actual shorts. Some folks don't like Bermudas (then again, I'm 5'2"). Love the weight of the fabric and the fact that they come in short, but between the too-long rise at the waist and the zip issue, they just weren't for me.

Disregard the tight zipper for a great pant!

I'm obsessed with the Ferrosi line! Everything they make is durable, water-repellant, breathable and so comfortable. These pants included! My only complaint is that the zipper is not very stretchy or flexible, and feels so snug on my thigh. It often leaves marks when I sit. And yet, I can't go a size up because the rest of the pant (waist and such) fits so well! I hope they can evolve this into a stretchier zipper design someday. Also, more colours please!

Great in any weather

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wore my new Ferrosi convertible pants on a 12 mile hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. The morning started at around 72 degrees so I left them as pants and zipped off the legs after about an hour when the day started getting really warm. As we reached the summit a summer storm brought a 20+ degree temp drop and some serious rain. I zipped the pant legs back on and I was surprised at how water resistant they were. I didn't stay completely dry but after the storm passed, and the sun came out, everything dried out quickly and it was not uncomfortable or chafing while wet. Overall, the pants were great as shorts - lightweight, flexible and cool when the weather was hot, and also did well in the colder temperatures and rain - they didn't stick to my skin, chafe, or lose their shape. And a light rain wouldn't have soaked through the fabric at all.

Yep, Ferrosi is the Best Fabric Out There Right Now!

Love these pants. Fit is great, adjustments are great, and hip comfort is great from a family with skinny hips and not a lot of padding on them. The draw string helps them stay up, and it's nice to have the convertible option. Even better is the adjustment in the hem of the convertible sections so these can be work basically as anything from capris down to lock down work pants. Just don't have anything bad to say about these!

Comfortable and durable

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I've had a pair for about 15 years and they're really comfortable, light and dry so fast! They're just too big☺️. So I bought the convertible kind, a couple of sizes smaller. I measured carefully and consulted the size chart. I would say that the fit is exactly right: no roominess built in. I wore them on a 10-day backpacking trip and despite the narrow, rugged trail, they still look like new. Recommend these pants!

Great pants

The pants have a lot of technical features like drawstrings at the ankle, easy to zip off legs, and pockets. The pants were more comfortable than I thought they would be and dry fast. They are stretchy and comfortable. I didn't mind the zipper on my legs. The light stone color was nice and sheds dirt and water easily. These pants are great for travel. I will take them backpacking.
