North Face Women's Surge Luxe Backpack is the single best personal item and most efficient and convenient way to travel and complete a memorable two-week 3-credit January 2025 Winterim UWSP Field Biology course. (University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point) THANK YOU North Face for always traveling well with me! Julia Storch Stevens Point, Wisconsin
The pack itself it great. It is comfortable for my petite jr high daughter to carry everything she needs. I chose this brand for durability and am hoping it can last several years like my old one. One big issue for longevity is the zippers that use the corded pulls. It's a trend at her school now for the pulls to be stolen which then makes the zipper difficult to use. The cords also don't look like they will be as durable as a normal metal pull. Not North Face's fault that kids are stealing them, but still a bummer to pay so much for a bag and already be looking for replacement parts.
I think the women's straps were actually designed for prepubescent girls. I'm 57 and have breasts, and I find these women's straps to be the most uncomfortable things I've ever tried to wear. The stiff back on the backpack is also incredibly uncomfortable. As soon as you put something three dimensional in the bag, like groceries or a lunch, The stiff back for the bag to pull away from your shoulders, exerting, intense, and painful pressure on the shoulder straps. I cannot figure out how any full size adults wear this pack. I'm 5'7", 145 pounds. I will be returning it tomorrow.
I use it for work and it's been great so far. It's very light weight and super durable! I love how it barely feels like I'm carrying anything at all! I just wish the part where it holds a labtop was just a bit bigger or wider
The backpack seems very nice, but it arrived missing 4 of the zipper pulls. Customer Care has not been all the helpful in sending new ones and continuously asks for photos and details on the product.
Love this Book Bag. Does not make my back sore like every other Bag I have ever carried. Holds all my Text Books and has many pockets. Seriously Best Bag I have ever owned.
Wifey loves her bag,It's stylish and the rose gold really pops in a good way!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Honestly this backpack is perfect! I'm so impressed with the amount of thought that went into the details. There's multiple padded pockets to protect glasses and other things you don't want scratched. The front pockets are so helpful for organizing stuff I need to grab quickly . The laptop pocket has thick padding and an extra pocket that is the perfect size for a tablet. Both pockets are elevated from the bottom of the backpack for added protection. Hands down though, the very best part about the backpack is how dang comfortable it is! I was honestly shocked! It forms to your back and you can't feel the laptop through it at all (I have a 13" MacBook Air). It's so versatile and I plan on using it for work, travel, day trips, etc.
Used mainly for travel, so two aspects stand out. One, the shoulder straps are very comfortable and quite stable so the pack doesn't require a waist belt. Two, the pockets are very well thought out, realistically sized and intuitively laid out. You basically can access electronics or a book or docs without having to forage through the large main pocket. The pockets mostly have their own volume so they don't take away from the main pocket volume which is a big plus. Overall, as usual TNF did a nice job thinking practically and economically about the use case for this pack and came up with a winner. Note, it is a large pack, it can carry as much as some carry-ons, when fully loaded not all airlines will allow this as a "personal item"
My daughter needed a larger backpack for high school after she overstuffed her middle school Northface backpack that was 20L and busted the zipper. I expected this to look huge at 31L, but it has ergonomic storage that fits a ton, but doesn't look bulky. So stylish with the rose gold details - totally worth a few more dollars with a picky high school teen. She loves all the pockets to organize. The design of the pockets are neat and easy to find your stuff. Northface quality with the look of fashionable brands. Well done Northface!
