As the other reviewer said, you have to go to their website to figure out how to assemble. Don't be like me and think they're broken :)
I just got these poles and did not know how to put together. I know that sounds silly but I’ve never had this kind. There are no directions here on REI site, no directions with the poles when you get them. I had to go to Mountainsmith’s website and watch the video. Not a big deal but maybe REI could snag that video and add here. :)
They are light and very easy to set up. I like that they came with multiple caps which has been great in my ever changing climate. I didn’t give 5 stars because I haven’t been able to use them in a multitude of climates, but they work well for my winter hiking and snowshoeing around.
These poles are really nice and easy to figure out how to put together. I'm not sure what those other people are talking about, but I had absolutely no issues figuring out how to snap them together and lengthen them with a bit of brain power and critical thinking. I got these to use for snowshoeing and hiking so that I don't loose my good backpacking one's. From what I can tell they they'll work great and seem to be sturdy enough.
The collapsable poles worked great. I have used them twice and they were sturdy to use and the second time I used them they were easier to put together and take apart. The hint from a previous reviewer to watch the Mountainsmith video on how to assemble and disassemble the poles was very helpful. I am looking forward to taking them on my upcoming trips!
