Comfortable w/ Easy Set-Up
Given that this is my first camping cot, I am impressed with how comfortable I found it. For me it was much more comfortable than just using a sleeping pad, and I love how it got me more off of the floor of my tent. I also appreciated how if I turned onto my side, my hip was it digging into the ground like sometimes happens even with sleeping pads. It is very easy to set up as it is only one piece that unfolds, but depending on the size of your tent, it can be a bit tricky to move around inside the tent once it is set up. I have a standard 4 person tent, and this fit inside, but bumped up against the walls on both sides. I would say you could comfortably fit two of these is a standard 4 person tent. On the down side, it was fairly heavy, but that shouldn’t be a problem if you are car camping. Overall, I was very pleased with this cot and am looking forward to using it again.
useful for multiple places.
Okay its a bit heavy, but sturdy. Took a couple of minutes to assemble. Fits nicely in REI Co Op Base Camp 4 Tent leaving plenty of room. I also used it when a relative visited. We have a small apartment, and I was able to use this as a bed for a guest. My guest agree with me that it was comfortable and has a good length. She slept comfortably near her grandchild and was able to watch her at night.
Solid, comfortable car-camping bed
I’ve used this cot both camping and traveling on a church mission trip where a little off-the-floor comfort was definitely required. Pluses: For something so substantial, it couldn’t be easier to set up. You basically unfold it and pop out the kegs and you’re done. Very comfortable to sit and sleep on. Minus: It’s heavy! But, when you’re using it as part of your car camping kit, it’s perfect. Really well made and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
Stable and Easy to Set Up, But a Bit Small
The REI Campwell Folding Cot stands out for its stability and ease of use, but its size and weight might be limiting for some. Positives: - Easy to set up. - Very stable with solid bracing, doesn’t rock lengthwise. - Fewer pinch points compared to cots with end-bar setups. - Large feet distribute weight well, protecting the tent floor. - Can sit at both ends without tipping over. Negatives: - Narrower and shorter than competitors in its weight and price class. - Still heavy at 17.2 lbs, though manageable for car camping. - It would be outstanding if made from aluminum or carbon fiber. It is a reliable and stable cot for car camping, but its size and weight make it imperfect.
Hard to open, otherwise great
It seems a lot of people can get this cot unfolded very easily and find it intuitive. But for me, I felt like I had to fight it. The legs would keep snapping back in, and as I try to open it, I'm worried I'll end up breaking it. I wish it came with an instructional video or better built in instructions, so I know exactly what to do without it breaking. The 3 stars is for the pros: 1. Once you get it open it's sturdy 2. Folds small, which is great when a car has to get filled with big items. It's always appealing when something is designed in a way that it can fold and pack small. 3. Collapses easily
Just what we needed - a bit challenging to open th
Minus the difficulties trying to figure out how to open (resonate with the comment it felt like we were going to break it and it kept snapping back into place - wish there were instructions) - the cot itself was comfy, good height, lightweight for the most part (moved to the sides of tents during day, middle of tent at night). We also purchased the Campwell Mats and they seemed to be designed well to work together - there’s ties/hooks to keep them together which we had no issues with. Overall we really enjoyed our experience with these and our camp set up.
Comfortable, sturdy, and easy to set up.
Overall, this cot is great; comfortable, sturdy, and very easy to set up. I used this folding cot recently on an overnight trip, it really enhances sleeping in a tent. I did mistakenly think it would fit well in a 2P backpacking tent, given the 18 inch height, but it was a very tight fit. I’m not very tall, so it worked for me, but the best use for this cot is in a large tent. It’s also pretty hefty, the 17 lb listed weight is deceiving if you have to carry to a camp site away from your vehicle. But that sturdy construction ultimately serves for a very comfortable cot. It just feels solid all night. The top sleeping surface is perfectly tensioned for maximum comfort. Sleeping on a cot is a game changer for tent camping. This cot has nice wide feet that won’t ruin your tent. You pull the tension straps tight to lock the legs in place, and it stayed fully tensioned all night. It takes about 30 seconds to set up. Very well made!
DIY 30inch width solid platform
I was looking for REI levitate platform https://www.rei.com/product/192990/rei-co-op-levitate-sleeping-platform But it is discontinued,. I bought this cot, and half of IKEA Queen size slate(30 inch on one side) on top to creat 30inch width solid surface. Then finish with Nemo Roamer sleeping pad on top.
Heavy but comfortable
Good night’s sleep! This is a heavy but comfortable cot—slept overnight in the living room and back yard to test. Easy to set up and break down, nice, stable, rotating feet, nice roomy stuff sack. Great color, Doesn’t sag like other cots, if only it were made of aluminum, then would be a 5 star rating
Sleeping under the stars
Great sleeping option to setup easy and fast for camping. No instruction was included but setup is easy and quick. Start with the middle legs first. Be careful as you break it down. It closes fast and will pinch fingers. Carrying case is great and easy to get the cot out and in of the bag. Seems like the cot should hold up well for many camping adventures.
