Leki

Good poles. First time I've bought folding ones. Only used twice. About 16 miles of moderate hiking in the Sandia foothills. No 5 star because I'm concerned the locking mechanism may not hold up under serious hiking conditions. I would be very upset if the pin holding the poles broke under heavy stress. These are not replacing my Black Diamond collapsing poles which I've had for over 10 years and have served me well. I just want something for less demanding hikes and can fold and fit in my backpack. Grips, tips and weight are all good. I bought them at a discount, otherwise they are a bit pricey.

Disappointed

Received these today. Alas, the shock cord is insuffucient to keep the bottom two sections of the pole secure. Maybe a one-off manufacturing defect, but mine are going back.

First time pole owner

I thought the cork would be softer, but it's not. I think foam would be rough on the hands though. I've put about 20 miles on them and I don't think I could ask for anything else from a pair of poles. The weight is just right, the fold up compact enough and at 200+lbs, I feel like they are very sturdy.

best poles ever

Other reviewers that had problems, just can’t figure out how to use them. I’ve had these for years starting with the micro TA. The rounded tops allow me to use the top of the grips as sort of a ball and socket to get more more leverage than with traditional gripping methods. The fact that these are folding rather than telescoping poles mean they are a little bit heavier, but that slight extra weight means they are more durable. They have borne my full weight hundreds and hundreds of times without ever slipping or threatening to break, and having one adjustment point instead of two means that I can rapidly lengthen or shorten them as terrain changes. When I’m out on the trail, the last thing I want to worry about is my equipment failing. A little extra weight for more reliability and durability is a no-brainer. These will never let me down.

Don't Buy

Love Reki and wanted a collapsible pair for an upcoming trip. Practices with these at home and bottom part of cane comes out as you are walking. No screwing or tightening method to keep it in.

Light, with nicely fit hand grips

I purchased the Leki Khumbu FX TA Trekking Poles to use as Nordic type walking poles. I also purchased the various tips that fit these poles for different uses. I have been getting out and walking faster for a further distance when I use these trekking poles. I really enjoy the feel of the grips, the right amount of weight in my hands, the I feel like they increase my stability on uneven terrain. These poles are fairly light and easy to walk with.
