These boots fit like gloves. I took some time to break them in before taking them on trail and it was worth it. The leather really forms to your foot over time. I have wide feet, but for me the toe box fit perfectly. It did take some time experimenting with different lacing methods to get the perfect fit so I would encourage any potential buyer to look up tips for lacing up hiking boots if these or any others give you hot spots etc. I do find myself re-lacing these, or having to tighten them after a few hours of use, but the leather is conforming, and the laces still stretching so its fine with me. Im looking forward to future adventures with these.
I use shoes for what they’re meant for so with these keen shoes I exclusively use them for hiking in the woods. Iv had them for 2 years and they are holding up incredibly well! There isn’t a single stitch ripped or and rubber that’s separated. They’re basically in mint condition! The break in period was quite bad to be honest and took like 2 weeks for the odd pain I was feeling at my ankle to break in but once it did these boots have felt like walking with armor on through the woods! These boots obviously wouldn’t be good for super long distance hikes and my feet do tend to sweat in them a bit but it’s worth having the waterproofing and protection. I’m looking forward to the day these things fall apart so I can get myself another pair of hiking shoes but by the way the boot looks now it seems like iv got a few more years with them……. They are a great boot once they’re broken in, and when they broken in they feel like an extension of your own self..
Right off the bat the left one felt like it dug into a nerve at the upper part of my ankle. I really liked the boots and realized it was almost freezing temps when I got these so I decided I'd just do my best to break them in. It took honestly a month of wearing them every weekend and going on a couple hikes for the weird pain in my upper ankle to go away but now that it's gone I'm happy I stuck with it! These boots seem extremely well made, came with extra laces, and aren't full of flashy reflectors and stuff like that which I just think is very ugly. OH, and sizing ran normal size for me, not too big or too small.
These are perhaps the most comfortable hiking boots I have worn. I have had them for just over a year and the soles have detached from the boot. I wear them almost everyday to walk my dog between 1-2 miles a day. Unfortunately, I will be looking for a new brand. One the bright side, the REI staff member who sold them to me was knowledge and helpful.
I run a wilderness trail crew all summer in really demanding conditions (lots of rocks, dirt, rain, snow). These boots have served me very well, keeping my feet dry, cool and happy. The leather eventually gets pretty beat up, but they've never leaked or fallen apart like other boots I've had. I just hope they keep making these classics.
I purchased these 7-8 months ago. I work everyday so obviously I go through a lot of boots because they wear out. I work deliveries so I’m inside outside harsh weather snow all day everyday and I need good boots. These boots right here were perfect comfy right out the box waterproof was excellent the best waterproofing I ever had. The best part of this boot for me was the color scheme solid black with the blue laces matched perfectly with the uniform I wear everyday. Sadly this specific trim is no longer offer and that just doesn’t make sense to me because why would you just stop making something because now I love these boots but they are worn out because I live in these boots and now I can’t buy them. I hope this review/rant finds its way to whatever big wigs make the decisions at Keen. Bring back this model Pyrenees black on galaxy blue.
I'm very disappointed with keen, why can't they get their sizes right. I've had this problem quite a few times in the past. I wear a pair of 8 1/2, that are a little roomy, which I don't mind. The pair I received from REI were way too small in length and width. I think Keen should have to pay return shipping, maybe they'll eventually get it right.
comfortable, sturdy hiking boots. Great boots sans 2 knocks (not even close to deal-breakers) 1) Traction lugs extend to the outside of the soles. Problem is mud clings to side of the sole thus making quick cleaning problematic. 2) Lacing lugs are not designed for speed lacing; oddly spaced thus making speed lacing problematic (slow). Even hand lacing is tedious given the lug spacing. Otherwise a very good boot. Fit as advertised.
So far these are great. They have the toe protection I love in Keens.
The tread has de-laminated on both shoes. Have not experienced this with previous versions of this boot, which up until now has been my favorite. Either Keen has changed it's manufacturing methods, or I got some lemons. Discovered too late that I could have returned them. Will probably give them another chance if re-gluing them with contact cement doesn't work.
