KEEN  Targhee Apex Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's

True to size with my usual New Balance wide size. Nice and roomy but a secure fit that feels like a broken in pair of high top shoes. This is the only pair of shoes I’ve ever bought that were truly ready to wear out of the box after removing the tissue paper. Not even any tags or stickers and pre-laced. The top lace hooks are sturdy don’t take too much effort to get a nice fit. There are loops on the back to pull them on but I can step into them without the tabs. I’ve been wearing them around town after 18” of snow without great results. They stay dry and warm without getting sweaty. Overall very pleased and will be back for a low top summer pair.

I wanted to get a nice all purpose waterproof boot that I could take on dog walks or on light trails. I tried multiple pairs from different reputable boot brands which were either heavy or uncomfortable. I went to REI to try and find a pair and found these. I could not take them off! They are SUPER lightweight and comfortable boots! Very comfortable to walk in and fit more like a comfy sneaker than a chunky boot, and they have a nice roomy toe box. The waterproof liner is silent and does not make any crunching noises or feelings when walking, which is a huge plus. Very satisfied so far, they seem to be a great all around boot

Backpacker here. I’ve worn a heavier, low‑cut shoe for years, but after my doctor diagnosed a knee issue I wanted something lighter and more supportive on descents. I tried a mid-height option from my usual brand and two super‑cushy models from another brand. None of them felt right. These did. My foot is a standard size 11 with a higher instep, and the fit on these is great. Plenty of room across the top, lots of toe space (left, right + up, down), and a comfortable midfoot that doesn’t feel too shallow or tight. I felt a little play in the heel when I first put them on, but one extra tug on the laces and the shoe locked in with zero slip. The ride feels protective and comfortable without being mushy. I’m aware of the ground beneath me, but not to the extent that I feel exposed to sharp rocks. There’s a gentle rebound, and although mid-height is new to me, I’m pretty sure I’m going to like it. I’ll keep an eye out for anything that could roll an ankle, but these make me feel safer, and I think that’ll add to the pleasure of my hikes. They’re also very easy to get on thanks to the wide opening. The other mid-height options I tried had narrow tops that I really disliked. These also have just one single speed-lace, and it tightens quickly. Putting them on isn’t much different from slipping on a regular shoe. Durability remains to be seen, but I feel confident. This is KEEN, after all. And for the price, if they help my knees — as I think they will — they’re absolutely worth it.

Great feeling shoe. I love the comfort and support it offers. However the rubber at the toes started coming off about 2 weeks in to wearing them. I tried to exchange at local REI and they didn’t had the right size so I waited to come back the next week. Still didn’t have the right size but suppose to get shipment in few days. Came back again and still didn’t have the right size. By this time I had wore them about 3-4 weeks and they didn’t seem to be wearing well. I finally decided to turn them in to REI and have the replacement shipped to my house. That was 3 days ago and I still do not have confirmation they have shipped even though there were plenty online. A little disappointed in how long it’s taking REI to get a replacement. Will try the new pair out when they come and see if they can hold up.

The Targhee Apex is one of the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn! The wide sizing was spot‑on, and there was absolutely no break‑in period as they felt great right out of the box. I wore them in the snow today and they were warm, waterproof, and solid on the ground. I liked them so much that I immediately bought a second pair! These are perfect for everyday use and outdoor conditions.

These Targee Apex are simply Awesome. Super comfortable can wear these all day, which is usually not the case with my feet. I have wide and thick square nasty feet. Hard to fit with comfortable shoes, these are great.
