I don't know about everyone else but through the years of buying hiking shoes, I have seen a steady decline in quality, both materials and design. This shoe is not on par with the Vasque I owned about 8 years ago. The sole seems great but the actual shoe has no more lateral support than a running shoe. I understand that this is my preference but I like a roomy-ish toe box, a lacing system that secures the mid foot and ankle area firmly, and a heel area that is narrow enough to prevent a hot spot; this shoe falls short in all three areas. I kind of feel like I am wearing Minnie Mouse shoes, those weird oval things! I don't even have 50 miles on them and the heel collar is starting to wear. I'm so tired of mediocre destined-for-a-landfill-soon gear. The actual sewing and gluing looks great...use better materials and a human foot as the design model and it could be a winner!

Great toe wiggle room and support. Not so durable

I purchased these June 28,2020. The durability isn't as good with these as with the Vasque Mantra. I'm already wearing out the back of the inside of the shoe and the Mantras lasted much longer. This does provide very good foot support and plenty of 'wiggle room' for my toes...the footbed is very spacious. I like the styling of the contrasting green trim and laces and the waterproof nature as a frequent trail walker and car camper. The bottom of the shoe is flexible but still very supportive and the traction is good for trails.

Trail (& Casual) Comfort

My wife had the same show 2-3 times previously and wears them everywhere. This is the new model (with new name), but it's just as great a shoe. Handles the trail great. Equally comfortable for casual

Great Foot Support!

As someone with high arches, I love that I don't have to swap out the insoles. This shoe is very supportive, toe box is wide enough for my narrow feet, even though I purchased a regular B width. No heel slippage! The only thing I might have to switch out is the laces... have a tendency to loosen up even double knotted. Very good shoe at an excellent REI outlet price.

Vasque-best hiking shoe ever!

I bought this pair to replace my previous Vasque hiking shoes. They 'broke in' in about 30 minutes and I love them as much as my previous pair!

Not For Me

Bummer -- I have the Breeze Hiking Boot by Vasque and was hoping this trail runner would fit. They are uncomfortable -- very rigid fit, no give. I usually wear a 7.5, they were too big, especially in the heel and caused a great deal of slipping/rubbing.

So close and yet so far

These look pretty nice and they felt good in the midfoot, but the tongue is so thick that the top of my foot got bruised from the pressure. I am still sad because Vasque discontinued the Mantra. I should have bought ten pairs of them.

Waiting to take then on a hike

I've worn the shoe once around the house and it feels fine. The true test will be out on the trail, thus, the 4*rating.
