Features

  • With 21 optimized vents, the AirEvac ventilation system allows goggles and helmet to function as a system, venting warm, moist air away from the goggles—and away from the head
  • Koroyd provides superior impact absorption, design flexibility and ventilation when compared to materials traditionally used in helmet construction
  • Utilizing crumple-zone cylinders that crush uniformly on impact, Koroyd manages energy more efficiently with less volume than traditional protection materials
  • Rotational motion can cause brain injuries; with Mips, a low-friction layer slides 10 to 15 mm in all directions, reducing rotational motion to the brain during impact
  • Pad kit includes 3 sets of sized cheek pads, 2 sets of sized crown liners and 2 neck rolls to ensure a proper fit̵all of which can easily be removed for cleaning
  • Pads are made from Hybrid X-Static/XT2 for antibacterial performance
  • Ride with confidence, knowing the Mainline is secured with a tried-and-true D-ring chin strap fastener
  • Lightweight Aerocore in-mold construction
  • Adjustable visor
  • Camera- and light-mount compatible
  • Downhill certification(s): ASTM F1952
  • Certification(s): CPSC, CE EN 1078
  • E-Bike helmet certification(s): NTA-8776
  • Closeout

Great helmet, exceeded expectations

I bought this helmet about a month ago, in the orange color. I was a tad nervous because some people had mentioned noise from the MIPS system, but I found that not to be a problem at all. This helmet is ridiculously comfortable, I felt safe and secure, and it has fantastic visibility - it didn’t encroach on my field of view at all. It’s really well ventilated as well, I live in the American southwest and I could feel the breeze nicely, perfect for downhill days. You can hear the mips but it’s not loud or distracting at all. It just sounds like a bike helmet. I like that the chin strap is a d-ring too like motorcycle helmets so it won’t come undone like a buckle might in a crash. It feels just as secure and safe like a motocross helmet, but lightweight and breathable for biking.

Saved me! Great helmet.

Great helmet! I had a pretty serious crash and this helmet surely saved me. Landed on my face and I don’t have a scratch or even a headache. Some have complained about the fact that the MIPS squeaks, but that hasn’t bothered me. Highly recommended.

Returned it. Poor value MSRP. Noisy.

Was in the market for a new full face as my current needed retiring. Scored this half off and was stoked seeing as it's a "premium price" lid. Comfort and fit is pretty good although I had a pressure point on my forehead. Ventilation is better than none but not what marketing hypes it to be. Like the chin strap and I prefer a D ring; much more secure and not as difficult to manuever as folks like to complain about. You won't see a buckle on a motorcycle helmet. Protection wise, it's really thin. I don't trust the DH rating on this and would not want to wrap around a tree at 40mph. Any full face, however, is better than a half shell. Teeth are expensive, ya'll. Ultimately returned it as this possesses the worst implementation of Mips I've seen in any helmet. Smith really skimped out on the liner with this one. Thought folks were exaggerating about the noise. No. They are not. It's horrible. After a week I couldnt take it anymore. Overall a decent full face (minus the cheap Mips) but a joke at MSRP. Just buy a Leatt gravity at $99; a little more weight and heat but a lot more protection and rotational dispersion to boot. If you need more protection, Walmart has a cheapy MX (DOT rated) helmet for $50.
